A somewhat confusing signing but maybe made simply because whilst Gentle wants the youngsters to step up he simply cannot expect them to do that withougt actually seeing them play and train under his regime for a couple of months. Last chance saloon for Burnett anyway and after all he is English and young unlike a few of our forwards who are getting to the end of their careers.

When he first broke onto the scene I thought he was going to be a star, so lets hope that with good coaching he can fulfil some of that potential. At least if injuries bite you know theres someone there who is proven at this level that we can fall back on, rather than an untried youngster who may turn out to be out of their depth.

Joking aside no matter how much you talk this signing up you must be all dissapointed! He was deamed by loads on here as not good enough when the news broke he had been released

I always really rated Burnett when he made his breakthrough. Not kicked on as hoped but at 23 with 57 SL appearances under his belt and a more professional training environment, being homegrown, signing him as back-up on a one year deal is hardly a disaster warranting exclamation marks. Bless you for your concern though. How lovely.

There's a reason he was released: He wasn't good enough. He's now got a second chance to prove people wrong under a far better coach, better facilities/diet etc.
I'm not "disappointed" I'm not even surprised he's signed, I'm pleased he's another Hull lad to add to the squad/team if needed. He's got all the attributes to make the grade for me and he's another year older and wiser (super-league wise that is) than when here last. Maybe, just maybe.

Personaly I was more surprised than disappointed. Not saying Burnett is a world beater but I didn`t think he was all that bad either.Only seeing him under a new coaching regime will tell how this is going to turn out.

This is the perfect opportunity for Mr Gentle to show us what he's made of. Mike Burnett had all the making of a star of the future when he played his first SL games imo. It appears that off-field discipline (if rumours are to be believed) and a run of niggling injuries put paid to that. However, it could also be that Richard Agar really did not keep faith in him and so his career floundered. Let's see what faith in youth can do for Bam Bam.

Burnett is a penalty machine, he is not good enough and will stop another youngster coming through. Our top players will go soon as our signings are dreadful. Gentle will be under pressure straight away. Especially warringinton and catalans first two gamers
