It's neither racist or offensive and merely refers to the fact that chocolate melts near heat so would be of no use as a fireguard.
Why create an issue. Which better phrase could be used other than the one given as everyone uses and understands it, everyone that is than you. |

He could have just called him a useless . I'm not sorry that my sensitivity to this issue has upset people. One of my best friends is black and growing up with the he had to put up with probably makes me over-sensitive. |

I was working with a guy last week who happened to be a London born Sikh.
He said something which struck home to me.
He said "People don't get offended themselves any more. They get offended on someone else's behalf."
Never a truer word spoken. These boards are regularly awash with examples of it.
