On the very narrow point of spending £15 million on a [iclub[/i - well I'm not sure if it has ever been mentioned on here, but Hull KR run at loss of hundreds of thousands of pounds a year, as it is. A new South Stand, high end training facilities, using the elastic in the cap, a handful of transfer fees - we could, hypothetically, soon go through it.
How much has McManus put in at Saints? Wouldn't be surprised if it isn't far off.

No idea, we'll have to wait and see if this investment comes off for you guys and we can discuss it then, otherwise we'll get told off for thread drift.

You might indeed.
Back on topic, then - I've heard AP suggested there may some changes in the governance of the sport. Can anybody give a bit more detail as to what he said/hinted at?

AP mentioned that some clubs, mainly wigan are pushing for clubs to run superleague, something similar to what football clubs do in the Premiership, having more control and say on what happens

| Mixed feelings on that, tbh. They'd have to appoint somebody to do what the rfl do now, and while they might do it better, there is a danger of fragmentation of the sport.
For example - who'd run the international game, the SL club's or the RFL?
It'd be difficult for those appointed to pursue a vision, trying satisfy the conflicting agendas of some pretty diverse clubs.
At least when the PL teams left the FL, they had the FA to go to, mixed as their performance has been.
All that said, following on from the mess of licensing and the shortage of cash around the sport, change is needed. I just hope they don't replace the captain and leave the course unaltered.

From what AP said it seems that the fiasco of the Stobart deal and the ensuing difficulties in getting a sponsor for this season who wants to pay decent money may have tipped the clubs into this stance. Some changes seem likely even if it doesn't go the whole hog with the clubs running the sport.

Heard a runour that larvin is a front for some developers who just want to get their hands on land and the bulk of the cash will go on commercial developments that have nothing to do with rovers

If I had £15m to invest in a commercial property deal, I doubt I'd select Larvin & Les to front it up via Twitter and start personal arguments with individual Rovers fans.
Rovers don't own the ground and Craven Park is hardly a prime leisure/commercial zone. Sounds like the sort of thing the council would fall over themselves to create a joint venture in, therefore. A plausible rumour.

It's right on the doorstep of the proposed siemens plant so could become prime land very quickly. Maybe they're waiting for siemens to sign before committing?
Thought rovers had bought the old greatfiled schools site behind the east stand?

Good points all. Don't know about the land ownership behind the East Stand but Rovers don't have any freehold land as far as I remember. Could be wrong. When is the decision due on Siemens? Is it "imminent"?

| Regardless of the Siemens development, there are power companies looking at land in this area.
The land next to where i work wasnt regarded as prime land but an electrical power company has just paid millions for it.
Its to do with the off shore power farms and sub stations (very different to the Siemens plans)
