Was thinking the same. We just need the Leeds team spirit, determination and will to win and we might surprise a few people.

Still think we need a 'beast' of a prop, still think were a bit lightweight up front but apart from that its starting to look like a very well balanced squad.

Catalan have replaced Greenshields with Webb, it simply doesn't look like there are any better options.

I agree it's a bit too harsh. Head in particular was clearly a top quality player.

Dykes single handedly won the semi final in 2008 for us as well. his passing and kicking was "top drawer". Shame he was broken for the final. That about sums his time up with us. class act on the field - but we couldn't keep him there.

| Quote: PAUL M "Just on McDonnell, I think fans will be surprised. He is very goo accelleration and has excellent footwork. He drops the odd ball but so does every fullback. I think he will go really well for us.

McDonnell got better as the season went on until he seemed to lose interest in the latter part of the season.
He was always pretty solid under the bombs and dropped very few and took a lot of balls on the run in very difficult circumstances. He joins the line well on set plays and when its laid out for him he will execute well.
The negatives are his defensive positional play is all over the place and if he gets the ball in his own half he looks like a headless chicken, I lost count of the number of times he ran into touch.
As you say he's probably as good as any out there that are available just depends on how much money he thinks he's worth.

I don't know about single-handedly, Matt Peterson gave a helping hand as well.
I do think that Dykes was a very good player, but I just think that Head was even better. I've seen few players who could kick with both feet with the quality he did, and I honestly think that if it hadn't been for his injuries blighting his career he would have been in the reckoning for playing 7 for Australia.

Kicking with two feet is extremely difficult.
I've just tried it in the garden and fallen over every time
