Wouldnt want Phelps good player but nothing special. Amos Roberts has that X factor in the backs but we do need a half back or 2 for next year as priority. |

quota spaces shouldn't be used on 'utility backs' under any circumstances, they need to be saved for top class players in key positions.
we need a half-back, I'd go as far as saying we won't make the top8 next year without a new halfback...so any other signing would be a complete waste. |

He might be holding out for the deal he wants, will probably get it when teams get desperate in a few months. |

Yup. I wouldnt be held to ransom by Dowes but if it looks like we only have 3 props going into next year we may need to just cough up what he wants. |

Imo i think the Briggs rumour if true is a good option to explore. Young and has been a points machine in NL. Bringing him in would give us the cover we need at SO SH. Also a student for Longy a uk player relatively cheap and would give us time to explore other half back options in NRL for 2012 when as people are predicting we will have plenty of salary cap to play with, by then Briggs could step up hopefully.
Utility or players who come into a qouta place who can play one or two positions isnt a bad thing. If we could get hold of a talented overseas player in the mould of a Lyon, Inu or Hunt ( I know he's unavalible but class utility player). That would give us a centre option and cover for SO.
Just a thought!  |
