Quote barham red="barham red"Are most of us forgetting that between us in 11 games of SL this year we have only managed to beat the cusaders and quins. Hardly sets us up as a test level side to beat England, Oz or NZ. If you mix on type of sh11te with another type of sh11te you just end up with a bigger pile of sh11te and at the moment thats what we are.'"
Well said, both clubs have much bigger fish to catch before we even get chance to fry it at present !!
However if the situation was to progress into a reality (which I am sure it never would ) there would have to be a weeks grace/ week off after the match to allow the combined team a chance to rest their players before re entering the SL fixtures or the match would have to be played after the season has ended or early in the season (around now) . my choice would be to play it as a nations warm up match prior to the comp starting to help get our lads into a competetive match ...
However as we all know our season here is already too long and.....
1, do we need another match of this intensity to further burden our by then walking wounded players?
2, isnt this sort of exersize what the exiles is all about ??
3, be very difficult for any coach to leave players out of this which could be demoralising for those not picked..
anyway just for fun my team to play would be as follows..
Coach : lee Crooks (knows both teams and is then immune from favouritism)
Team : assuming those being spoken to by SM get picked for the full England squad...
S Briscoe
Fox
Welham
Whiting
Sharp
Horne
Dobson
Omeley
Houghton
Vella
Newton
Mason
Fitzgibbon
Subs from :
Manu
Murrell
Lauaki
Webster
Obst
Tickle
Problem is that pack would IMO smash most teams anywhere on the planet and is the point of the warm up match to cabbage the england forwards ???
all just pie in the sky tho
