Leave the lad at London, we can't spread the game if they have no local players to get behind.

Quote: BIGARR "These Average names being mentioned are very underwhelming, but at the moment they are just Rumours..

I really do trust and believe Pearson, McRae and Gentle will pull off a BIG name player or two.

I don't want a Bradford or HKR cast off, I want a Queensland or NSW player Then I would move to Australia and support an NRL team.

Why's that then Tommy?

We've had plenty of S.O.O. Players in the past!! Why is it hard to believe we may get another top player for next season? Especially with the backing of Pearson!

In Feb 2009 (for example) one £1 would buy Au$2.22.

first-grade NRL player earns Au$176k, which is about £113k at the current exchange rate.

www.nrl.com/nrlhq/referencecentr ... fault.aspx

The equivalent figure for an average SL player is £64k.

Also the Employee Benefit Trust tax loophole (the legacy of which Pearson described as the 'major financial challenge' Hull FC face(d?) upon his takeover www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sp ... eover.html), has closed.

Yeah mate i am sure he announced his retirement a month or so ago, shame tho because he can still do the business, unless his wife and shoulders are telling him different icon_lol.gif

Shillington would be just right for me ... i know not even close to happening but didnt someone open a rumour on him a wee while ago too
gotta say though just how good is Cronk , he would win MOS over here just by turning up to the press launch

We've had former SOO player, but not current. That doesn't happen. I'm not sure who you think we could sign who is currently playing SOO and available.

Wouldn't any body fancy a stab at sammut? Would be cheap and Maybe could regather his form showed at crusaders under a decent coach?
Thinks its fair to say we should expect to see a Bradford player here soon, almost certain they're gonna go into administration and will be forced to sell players
Tom burgess would be priority no1 for me however

TBF, depends on how you look at it. Obviously no player will be a current SOO player whilst they are here, but Jason Smith and Shaun Berrigan were both still playing SOO until they announced their moves to SL, and there have been others at different clubs.

Totally agree with the main point that this will be a thing of the past, though.

Quote: carl_spackler "TBH I think this is the root problem with the negativity about our recruitment on here. When people mention good players it is quickly dismissed as unrealistic, but suggest s**t ones and it's practically being accepted as fact as an assumption that we'll be the best/(only?) option for them.

I think we must be the only set of fans who would have some unhappy with recruitment/retention when we so far have only one confirmed departure, have captured the number 1 hottest property on the market, and a 20-year-old on the fringes of the England squad. We've been though 4 seasons of dour, depressing, unambitious rugby, and we've finally seen some progress this year. People need to be prepared to wait for more (which will come), and not start throwing their toys out of the pram just because we might not catch everyone up in the space of 18 months after putting ourselves years behind under the last regime.

(To be clear, I'm not saying you fall into the latter category. I quoted your post because I think the realistically comment is the key. Too many seem to be making the jump from something being believable, to it true. If we sign every realistic target we've been linked with now, we'll break the combined salary cap for the entire league.)'"

Now I'm happy in the knowledge that Sam Tomkins will be our full back for the foreseeable future icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif
