Quote: 48756c6c20 524c4643 "You're nit picking aren't you? As mentioned the Warrington game was a massive team defeat that for the most part lay at the hands of the coach, putting it all on Shaul is disgraceful and disrespectful!
Shaul gets to the ball faster than Connor does on kicks, from what I've seen of Connor so far Shaul is safer undr the high ball, he's able to make more metres coming out of defence than Connor and whilst I think he could do more regards on the goal line defence I feel he's able to make tackles more so than Connor ever will able to do.
Yes connor hs some advantages in attack but we lose some of his guile by moving him to centre, with a differing coach Shaul could have had a shout at changing how he fitted into the attacking line and our ability to get the ball to the backs with more space and not always reliant on a kick from Sneyd could have negated some of Shauls' previous limitations. And whilst that limitation is frustrating it's not a massive part of the equation as to why we fail in the opposing 20 is it?

You can't now make a direct comparison going forward of Connor at FB to Shaul in a team that was disorganised, and oft imbalanced, because we have a 6 who is quality, should give us real impetuous in attack (and not too shabby in defence either from what I've seen) will hopefully play more games than the outgoing 6 and a coach who is going to do the 'small' things and improve core skills/understanding of what is required.
Will Connor do well at FB, very likely, but to slander Shaul when he's only ever been under a coach with no clue regards core skills, no grasp of how backs should play (Lineham stated this after he left and worked under Hodgson) and latterly in a team getting record wallopings is massively unfair!'"

Jake has hands like shovels, he’s safe and confident under most high balls, he did make a couple of uncharacteristic blobs under swirling high bombs, don’t remember which game it was.

Taking kick returns from whichever position he plays, he’s probably the safest pair of hands in the team.

Speed is a funny thing, some have it over a few meters, then slow off, Jamie has genuine pace, and has shown many times he’s a match winner, and dangerous threat.

Jake has all the promise of an outstanding footballer, and we will hopefully see this massive potential unfold on the pitch under our new coach.

In my humble opinion, the most important thing Brett needs to concentrate on, is get them all fit, as in the recent past, Hulls fitness levels seemed a way behind other teams.

it's you who are clearly unable or unwilling to enter into a proper conversation, you stopped reading because you flog a player who has done very well for us and I disagreed, thought you were being very disrespectful and your response is that., that really is special, it really clarifies your level.

Just to add my own thoughts regarding Shaul & Connor both have pro's and con's to their game. Personally for me I think the Connor has the edge over Shaul at FB currently. Considering Connor was thrown in at FB due to the unfotrunate injury to Shaul I thought he showed up well in that role as was an effective pivot.

Yes Shaul has pace and has indeed used that well in his game but where he has been lacking for a while is his link up/support play as a FB. Also when he did join in the attacking line the play more often than not ended with himl as he took the wrong option or ran down a dead end. He was very good under high balls but over the past season or two he has certainly not been as secure, quite often hesitant and letting the ball bounce. I believe there is a good full back in there and he has been let down by the Coaching team I would argue that a degree of apathy crept in with his closeness to Radford playing a part in performance levels (like Houghton). Under Hodgson a lot of Shauls minus points should improve quite significantly as we saw earlier when BH spent some time with Shaul previously.

Connor for me is a player that is just a natural and in some ways quite similar to Whiting in that he reads the game so well and has a real talent just lacks a little bit of pace and his temperament & desire to do well gets the better of him.
He is secure under high balls has a great leap and the ability to link up play. He's a player than when used effectively can be unplayable and I believe thats what BH has seen in Connor. Again like Shaul he will only improve under the guidance of BH.
In terms of lack of pace for a full back you only have to take a look back to Paul Wellens who I wouldnt say was a speedster at all in the FB role but he was a player that knew the role well and could read the game and see situations developing so was able to get in the right place at the right time.

Right now for me Connor has the edge over Shaul because of his all round game in the FB role and he adds that extra dimension to the attacking play which is what Shaul needs to work on.

A well constructed accurate and grown up assessment. Thankfully.

Great summary without any dramatics needed.

Pretty much my thoughts. Really looking forward to Connor at fullback with Hodgson as coach.

Haha was feeling a bit depressed until reading the last couple of pages, made me laugh, Jesus some people can rant! Personally think we are in a good position, unfortunate for shaul to miss a chunk of the season, but really is a great opportunity to have a look at Connor at 1, over a decent period. Maybe have the discussion then, who’s the better fullback, Connor looks very promising, but we’ve seen that before. And shaul as always been a dangerous consistent fullback, I’m excited to see who eventually ends the season at fb! Both can be quality players
