Quote: Faithful One "Jacob Miller? Jordan Rankin? It worked out so well last time. Kelly is one of the most talented players I've seen in my relatively short time of watching Hull FC and like you said, it would be madness to let him go to another SL side.'"
You mean that 20/21 year old that was scapegoated along with Crooks for Radford's ineptitude in 2014, who when he played and wasn't dropped we won more games than we lost?
That wasn't down to Miller, that was down to the coach not being good enough to exploit and develop a talented half, as seen, even at a side like Wakefield he's done more than fine.
Rankin unfortunately more suited to FB and we already had a young talented FB, had a 1 in 2 try scoring rate for us which wasn't too shabby, good enough to play at NRL level and holding his own.
I agree with the thoughts that Kelly [icould[/i be a big risk and paying top dollar means money diverted away from elsewhere, but if you think that we got lucky to get him at all and very much on a reduced salary the first year then sometimes you just have to go with it, especially if no-one else of similar quality is going to be available.
You can't second guess what might/might not happen with respect to injuries and player performances.
And looks like as I was typing we've signed him, good, it'll hopefully bring stability in that sense as opposed to not just fans not knowing but also in terms of not having to find a suitable replacement/new player into the club which can take time to bed in. That was something Kelly was superior to most, he was straight out the blocks.
I'd rather he sat out a few games and got right than be dragging his heels possibly getting a worse injury and have him fully fit for the back end when it matters.
