When tackling or attempting to tackle makes contact with the head or neck of an opponent'"

Bizarre. Either way, its a listing mess up by the looks of things, as 15.1a is not for strikes to the head, and Ellis certainly isn't guilty of punching, tripping or head butting.

Quote: Kosh "Is this your first experience of the disciplinary process?

Nobody contests a 1-2 match ban if they have an EGP available, no matter how innocent or guilty they may be. The panel are incompetent and biased in equal measure and even if you have overwhelming evidence to prove your innocence they'll most likely have made up their mind before you even present it.

It's a bollox decision, but just another in a long line of bollox decisions made by a panel that hasn't been fit for purpose in decades. If you don't play for one of the favoured clubs you'll always get the $hite end of the stick. If I still got wound up by these jokers I'd have died of apoplexy years ago.'"

I believe Nick Scruton contested a charge recently when EPG was available and was found not guilty.

Quote: Bal "You've got to be the most condescending person I've ever come across on a forum I genuinely wasn't intending to be. It's easy to miss nuances in typed text and I was actually surprised that you didn't seem to be aware of the common usage of an EGP.

Cases get argued by players from the handful of clubs who stand a chance of getting a positive result, or by players who don't have access to an EGP. Nobody else believes for an instant that they'll get justice from the panel so it's all about strategy and damage limitation. Better to miss the Catalan game than risk missing two.

Quote: Tinkerman23 "You've obviously been fortunate enough not to off sampled this countries justice system. People plead guilty everyday to offences, not because their guilty. But to safe a lot of hassle and money, complete joke, innocent until proven guilty no longer applies. Ellis maybe guilty, but the EGP is just the easy option, regardless if hull or ellis think innocent or not'"

Well I have sampled it, and conversely many guilty people go free every day.
Ellis quite rightly took the EGP because, as Kosh says, the RFL disciplinary are not fit for purpose, and he would most lkely have ended up with two games instead of one.

Thompson can replace him this week, glad he is going to be back for Wigan away much tougher game, the physical side anyway & Ellis will be fresh for the tough encounter.

I did realise that, I just failed to punctuate my reply properly.
I thought I'd highlighted the first part of your post, and the first part of mine was my comment on it.

The second part of my post was my opinion on the Ellis EGP.
Apologies for the misunderstanding.

Really can't understand all the debate on this one . Ellis was guilty of recklessly striking Simone in the head. Note , not deliberately but recklessly

Well you're wrong on the reckless for starters. How is it reckless or even careless for that matter that in the normal action of restricting a player from offloading the ball and/or tackling that due to the sudden and unpredictable movement of the attacking player minimal contact with the bicep/upper arm occurs that would not have occured if the attacking player had remained in the same position at the beginning of the motion that was shown.
To expect Ellis (or any other player) to mid motion react to the attacking players change in body position beyond the bounds of a human beings synaptic responses never mind the additional time of the motor action of physically moving the part of the body in line with avoiding contact to the head is both ludicrous and unfair.
As I stated earlier, Stewart from Catalans 'deliberately' lifts a players leg leaving them in a vulnerable position one that we know can lead to life changing injuries. And yet the panel decides that that was by far a lesser offence because the tackled player was lucky enough to land ok and Stewart received a caution on 'technique'
Debate/discuss why?

It is actually careless.
Knowing what the possible outcome of your actions could be and still doing it regardless makes it careless even though your sole intention was not the direct result that occurred.

Let's not go down this mythical he was trying to prevent an off load excuse either.
He was swinging in with a straight arm at pace which is not how you prevent an off load.
Ellis was going for the big shot and unfortunately mistimed it. Not intentional, just careless.
We as Hull fans get so defensive when anyone dares to criticise our club or players on here.
Some of the debate/argument is quite ridiculous and purile at times.
Ellis himself in the HDM alludes to such when he states he plays close to the line.
Gutted he is missing Friday but we would expect the same had the boot been on the other foot.
