| The clubs have lauded this as "exciting" but it isn't. It's a sad day for rugby league in the city.
Aside from costs I can see no positives whatsoever. Can anyone see Saints and Wigan doing this, or Warrington and Widnes?
Pearson getting a bit worked up on Radio Humberside right now.

| Pearson is an imbecile. He's talking absolute codswallop.
The academy isn't the problem, our U19's are great. It's their transition to the first team that's the issue, how can them playing for this merged side help that?

| Playing devils advocat, if each year 3/4 top class players are produced for both teams and it allowed both clubs to progress forward, would anyone complain.
This is something neither club are doing compared to the other top clubs.

What a load of gash that interview was, they reckon it'll be better than most championship clubs, infact they want to form a u23's to play players not in the first team so neither club has to have a dual reg anywhere.
So in effect a new club is being formed in the championship.
Utter gash
Pearson is working for David Lloyd, he must be

The way things are going they won't need to form a feeder club in the Championship that'll be us!!

| "We're Black. We're White. We'll never merge with s***e." I remember singing those words loud and proud at Central Park, Wigan, when the future of our club looked doomed at the dawn of Super League. I meant it then; I mean it now.
I don't live in Hull anymore, I moved away. So Hull FC are not my local club. However, Hull FC are the team I've supported all my life, pretty much all 42 years of it. So I stick with them; however cack they are; however much they let me down; however awkward it is to get there after work on a Friday, assuming I can even afford it (not often these days). They're _my_ club. Always will be. In any kind of weather.
If this is the beginning of the end - it is - then the day the teams merge is the day I stop giving a toss about Rugby League in Hull. Because the new team will not be my local team, and I'll have zero interest in supporting it. Why would I bother with a 4 hour round trip, when I can get to Cas, Wakey, and (dare I say it) L**ds, in less time?
Merging these teams will lose my support. I suspect I won't be the only one who stops going. It's a stupid idea, and I hope the message comes across loud and clear on Sunday at the KC.

I would switch to supporting a club the fans would build out of the clubs ashes, even if we have to go see them play in a local park and work their way back up, I'd NEVER support a merged club.

nail on the head
Until something is done to re instate an A team system we are always going to lose players after the 19 year age because as pointed out the transition is just too big for young players to handle.
Dual reg is no good for either of the clubs involved.
It would have been more benficial for the two clubs to look into the possibility of having a joint club in Championship 2 playing at HKRs ground specifically for the development of young players coming out of the nineteens.
They could still maintain dual reg for fitness or after injury for first team squad

| Say for instance we roll forward 3 years and we have a major injury crisis how can we put one of the youth players in the 1st team as cover who hasn't been through the draft system yet ?
I think a fans forum would be a very good idea about NOW

| Couldn't make it to the end of the interview.
They must think we are all idiots.
They've fed us spin for years on end, and I've had my fill of it. Neither club will do anything with the idiots they have in charge.
