That was Westy. Miller created the try for Feka. Don't recall Rankin doing anything memorable.

Fair enough - makes sense it being Westerman. I agree about rankin - he isn't good enough either certainly at half back.

| Miller also created Shaul's try. Both occasions he took the ball to the line and committed defenders before passing instead of crabbing along the line 5 yards away.

I've watched our tries back. The Feka try in particular is worth a few watches.

That's a relief because I thought Radford had only taught him to do the crabbing bit.

The really frustrating thing about Miller is that when he first arrived he was noticeably playing much closer to the line than Holdsworth. Then this season the whole 'play 5 yards from the defence and run sideways' thing took over. I have no idea if it was coaching but I have noticed he's started playing closer to the line in the last couple of games.
If we had a quality, experienced half for him to play alongside it might work. Pairing him with either Rankin or Horne isn't going to bear fruit in any useful timescale.

Showed a bit of spunk compared to most.
Also thought Milky did alright yesterday.
Disappointed with Rankin thought he'd go really well for us initially.
Probably just levelled out with the rest of our neurotics.

Even one half of the type you mention would do. Doesn't have to be world class (impossible to get) - just a very good practitioner of the art.

Feka really didn't deserve to be on the losing side. Played his heart out, along with Westy as usual.
Thought Miller had a decent game overall. Created two good tries and a few other opportunities that we bombed and his goalkicking was spot on. Shame about his field kicking though.
Rankin has one or two games where he looks good then disappears for a couple. Looked the more promising of the two a few weeks ago, now I'm not so sure.

| Quote: Kosh "I understand your general point and agree that our halves aren't anywhere near good enough. But talking specifically about yesterday they did not cost us the game. It was not the fault of the halves that we let in 18 points in the first 25 minutes of the game. In fact we actually created some opportunities to score first that were bombed by sub-standard play from supporting players.
It wasn't the fault of the halves that Crookes dropped a harmless kick to gift Rovers field position leading to a try. Nor that he then got sent off leaving us with 12 men for most of the second half. We then created sufficient opportunities to get back within 2 points before lousy defence, stupid errors, and being two players down (Crookes and Hadley) finished us off.
I actually thought Miller played a little better yesterday. More direct and passing closer to the line. Rankin was completely anonymous though.'"
Good half backs cant do anything behind a beaten pack and other than feka, houghton and ellis who I thought were good, not much else. Why wasn't heremaia brought on earlier,he improved your side big style in the time he was on ?

The thing is that the pack did OK without being spectacular. They certainly weren't dominated like they were in the first Derby. Packs were more or less even over the 80 IMO.
You'd have to ask Radford why Heremaia warmed the bench for as long as he did. He doesn't do long minutes but could have been used more effectively IMO.

| I remember saying at the time it was the wrong appointment. Not enough experience, and no partition between being a player and team mate and then head coach. Quite a few hulls fans agreed with me at the time. I touted harris as a viable option because he'd been a top player and would comman respect, already had experience as a head coach and had done a good apprentiship as an assistant at a top trophy winning team.
He looked ideal to me but sadly koukash has got in there first.
Hull NEED a top coach. They've been crying out for one for nigh on the last decade.
