| give miller n rankin a decent run of games at 6 & 7 where they were brought in to play, then heremaia goes back to where hes most effective at 9 and houghton will improve as hes not as effective playing 80 mins and his dummy half distribution is far to slow.
fans would need to be patient whilst they got used to each others styles ,unfortunately some hull fans have none and cant wait to jump down a players throat the minute something goes wrong. Horne cant do it at 6 now and is coming to the end of his career so we need to look forward, and not stick to what has failed in the past

As I understand it...
If a player is one of the top 25 he counts on the cap while at the club regardless of whether he plays a game or not.
However...
If a player is released without having played a cap-relevant game his wages are removed from the cap and any payoff also does not count. So you would immediately free up his entire cap value for a new signing.

| I would like to see Miller given a go but I firstly want to seen Azza back rotating at 9. Then we can try and get a settled half back pairing with players more suited to that role, whether its Horne/Rankin or Horne/Miller or Miller/Rankin, I'd go with Horne at FB if we aren't gonna play Shaul

| Personally I do not see what Miller did wrong last year. It looked to me like he was playing to orders and playing a conservative game until he was fully embedded in to the squad. When he occassionally played to his natural instincts - because his teammates gave him no options - he looked much more creative.
I would play Miller and Rankin in the halves and Horne at full back (I'm a Horne fan and if we had a team who contributed as much as he has regardless of where he is asked to play over the years we would have had much more success) and Heramaai at hooker. )
Incidentally, posters keep referring to Horne currently playing 6. Hasn't he been playing 7, scrum half and Heramaai at off half?

I agreed with everything you said until you mentioned Horne at full back, we have 5 players who should be picked at full back before Horne is considered. I personally think Azza not playing at hooker has been the difference between winning and losing the last two games. He shouldn't be playing in the halfs unless two of the three half we have on our books are injured

Not really. For this to happen, you would have to apply for dispensation under the following grounds:-
(d) A Club may seek prior dispensation in writing to the RSCM to exceed the Aggregate Liability by a specified amount. In making a decision, the RSCM will act reasonably, taking into account one or more of the following factors:
(i) the Club’s Players being unavailable through injury, absence and/or termination,
(ii) the Club’s intention to promote junior players who would otherwise be prevented from playing in a Salary Cap Relevant Match,
(iii) player welfare (for example, where a Club would otherwise be prevented from playing a Player in a situation that means that the Club instead selects an injured Player to play or another Player whose Salary Cap Value is low enough for the Club to remain within the Cap but who might not be ready for 1st team duties, and
(iv) other circumstances considered reasonable (by the RSCM, acting reasonably).
www.therfl.co.uk/the-rfl/rules/i ... section=E1
Not being good enough doesn't fall into those categories. You can't argue it puts players in danger because you have a further 2 experienced half backs at the club, and whilst I'm sure you have youngsters coming through do you have any who a) wouldn't contradict the terms about otherwise in danger and b) not already used in cap calculations? I imagine the only time termination is applicable is in cases to protect clubs against gross incompetence cases.

| Miller i feel has been made the scapegoat out of all this.. (Not mentioning off field instances as i don't no of any) but i felt sorry for him last year. Dragged round world to be thrown in the deep end.
He needed time to settle, and i agree with posters. Him and Rankin need game time at 6/7.. They've played with each other before through junior ranks, why can we all see this but coach can't?

6.1.3 On approval of a Termination Payment referred to in clause 6.1.2 above, the Player’s original Salary Cap Value shall thereafter be disregarded for the purposes of calculating his previous Club’s Aggregate Liability.'"
They actually seem to have removed the 'played no games' qualification now. So if we were to release Miller mid season we'd just have to pay whatever was agreed in his contract and he would immediately come off the cap.

Why didn't wests hang onto him then if hes all that? Especially with benji switching codes & anasta been 32/33? Why are no Aussie clubs coming in for him with his situation of not getting a game at a below average SL team?

Just because he wasn't good enough at his age for first team rugby in the NRL doesn't mean he isn't good enough for SL, you only have to look at Dobson and others to see that.
Maybe the reason that Miller isn't getting a game at Hull, is Radford doesn't really know what he is doing and messed up in pre-season by not getting his halfback combination sorted.
I am not saying Miller is the answer, but what other choice do we have, Heremia should be no were near halfback again, that leaves us with Horne and Rankin, which is two stand offs who both play a similar game.
Miller is the only Scrum half we have, might as well give him a chance.
I honestley believe had Heremia played at hooker the last two games we would have won them both

You really don't like him do you. And yet you defend Radford 100% despite his obvious failings.

There was quite a lot of speculation in the close season that Cronulla Sharks were very much interested in him...
So much so that AP had stamp on the rumours and declare that he was definitely coming back to us for 2014.

Unfortunately for Cronulla they've had DJ playing at 7 for them instead so far this season.
Played 3, lost 3.
