" Worry is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but gets you nowhere "
Wayne Bennett
King Of Coaches: |

| Quote: fc baldy "Wouldnt have touched any barring Dobson.
Newton-Big windy get, once watched him in a derby and didnt touch ball for 10mins.
Webster-was injured all the time
Lovegrove-no better than what we have/had.
Patterson-so good,he is legging it after a yr and goes missing for ages.
Green-Not ripping up trees at Wigan is he.'"
The point is as opposed to our signings during this period Seymour , Lauaki , Cusack, Galea (The FC version) and the jury is still out on Holdsworth (very patchy) and Miller (too early to judge him) .
We have signed good ones in Manu,Fitz and Moa just think they have signed more good ones during the same timescale.

| Quote: owdlad "\maybe Thompson will be used as the utility and Whiting may start more games instead of coming off the bench, just a different way of looking at it, wouldn't be unhappy starting with Ellis, westerman and Whiting in the back row'"
That is a really good point sometimes sir richard's versatility has hindered him holding down a starting 2nd row spot. I can't say that I have noticed Thompson much in the games iv watched but a fella I work with who is a Cas fan really rates him and is as annoyed about losing him as he was when they lost willie Manu.

| What puzzles me is that with Ellis, Westerman, and Whiting (LF) as the starting back row atm
The other 3 players who could play there (unless we had a 3rd prop at LF) are Pitts, Hadley and Kent
The latter 2 haven't had as much Super League experience as Thompson but if another 2nd rower is to be signed they would be less likely to be given a chance. Granted he is young and can improve but when Hadley signed a 2 year contract i though he might get a few opportunities next year.
That said, I look forward to seeing what he can do and hope that does impress

Did you see the ambition when we signed Raynor, Carvell, Dowes , Whiting? Thompson has more SL games under his belt then those four had put together before they signed for us.
What about Mcmenemy, who had been at Oldham and Halifax, did you also feel that signing lacked ambition?
I imagine many a great judge did

Must admit I cringed when I read that. Sometimes our PR department doesn't do themselves any favours. Clearly never heard of not over-egging the pudding.

| Quote: russelbarwich "And.....are you happy that Rovers are able to consistently sign better players than Hull FC? I'm not saying we've signed crap year on year but we certainly seem to buy our fair share of cap fillers.
You seem to agree with your response that they have signed better calibre replacements than us this year. Granted that their replacements have mighty big shoes to fill but I've only been impressed with Paea so far. We lose O'meley, Tickle, Briscoe, Lynch and O'meley is the only player with a like for like replacement so far.
Like my earlier post said....so far
I live in hope but the names on the grapevine lead me to believe there needs to be a big improvement in attitude towards every game next season as we ain't gonna have the big names to pull us out of the poop!'"
I don't think you've watched as much NRL as you should have this year, pick of their bunch is Costigan who is a steady work horse defensively which will help them, Keating has hardly played in the NRL all year (and is behind Romelo a hooker in the backs pecking order) and Weyman looks a shadow of his former self, decent in attack poor a slow in defence.

| Not seen much of him but what i have seen runs good lines, People have got realise we wont sign SOO players anymore but building a squad with English players and isnt end of recruitment, Does it mean we wont be announcing the polynesian forward now if waiting for World Cup?
