| Gentle i think is the right man for the job. As previous poster said regarding Gentle's comment on the Cup game. I don't think that has helped the players mindset as i do think Gentle is targeting the Cup.
However though, i do still believe in him and hope he can push on with his talents. He may have been an untried assistant coach. But come on, Assistant to the best RL coach in all rugby league for club and country. You don't come away from that with no general knowledge of the game and maybe more.
The blames with the players. Maybe to many players expecting an easy ride and finally have a coach who say's no.

If Gentle says No, why was Galea even signed?

Thats not what Warrington said when they wanted to replace Cullen. They went and got the current GB coach who had a proven track record in SL doing well at two previous SL clubs.
We need the best if we want to succeed and that goes from the coach to the players. Signing players like Arundel, Crookes and soon to be Jordan Thompson will take us no where and neither will keeping Gentle. I dont even think Paea will do anything here as it seems to be a poisoned chalice and whilst weve signed him Warrington have gone out and got Asotasi and Saints have got Mose Masoe. Big difference imo

I agree on the second point.
I think the gap has narrowed, we lost 46-0 at home to Wigan a few years back and there's been nothing as bad as the away trip to Wakefield a few years back. That said, it hasn't narrowed a great deal.

Rather have Paea than them two , Asotasi is a massive gamble and Mosoe is decent but not better than Paea.

You got me on that one. But there must be more to that signing then him just playing. If he was signed for his experience with the younger players then that's fine.
But to your comment. Gentle never said no to Galea, he said yes.

| If Gentle can do one thing it will go a massive way to convincing me he's the right man: Fix the play the ball speed.
Simple as that. Every team in SL seems to have cottoned on to it being the key to the game bar us, and it's been a huge problem as far back as Peter Sharp (at least). A core facet of the game that we are garbage at, but have not managed to improve in 7 years+. Sort that one area and it will improve more than anything else.

Gentle imo opinion is the right man for the job. Yes people may disagree but there entitled to it.
But to answer your question, First off he understands the fans frustrations and comes out in the media and say's what it is.
Secondly, i don't think Gentle himself knew what he was getting into when he took over and even though he has made his signings, i think the players are struggling with how he wants to play.
Then you have the youth structure. He's bedded in youngsters throughout his reign in charge and with AP has created chances for us with many programes including the half back school.
I just think the team need's time, including Gentle. Many still forget that AP stated in could take upto 3 years before we start hitting our targets. Yes this year was suppose to be the year we kicked on. But as always, Injuries creep into key players which ends up being most of the season, Then the whole Seymour thing, Contract talks being in the spotlight.
I no you may disagree Jake, but that's your opinion which i will listen to

| I would like him to consider changing the way some Hull players tackle an opponent.
I am alone in not being impressed @ the present time with the tackle 'around the chest' method. I am aware that maybe the thinking is, in this way one can prevent the opponent from passing the ball. It seems that this method has by adopted by many [not just Hull players].
From my obsevation this does not always work & opponents seem more & more to be able to continue 'going forward' [in some cases] for quiet a distance before a third player is needed to complete the tackle, by 'going' for the opponent's legs. On some occasions the opponent is still able to pass the ball to a team mate & in doing so defeating the object of the tackling around the body principle.
I prefer that were appropriate opponents are 'brought down' by a good 'around the legs' tackle or, having an opponent being tackled by @ least two players, one taking the legs & the other the opponent's body [& were practical @ the sametime]. This hopefully would prevent opponents gaining further 'ground'.
This may have prevented @ least one try @ Castleford when our players went 'high' & failed to stop an opponent.
It may not be high on the priority list but in my opinion it may help our team in the future.

| I actually like PG and last month I was really starting to believe he could be the man. I really hope he is.
My concern is AP - IF we lose to Giants ( very very possible ) and lose the next 2 away games to Dragons and Bulls then we will have lost 6 games on the trot , out of the CC and probably 9th in SL with 5 games to go.
Does anyone think AP had this in mind and with his soccer history I think he would be so near to sacking PG.

Is it possible to inform us where anyone on this board has actually stated that or is it you making it up?

Again here is the problem, nobody sees Newcastle as a big club, like nobody but you guys see FC as a big club.

If Gentle didn't know what he was 'getting into' he should have done. He doesn't come across as a stupid person, I'm pretty sure he knew what the remit was for taking us forward and still hopefully will.
The 'whole Seymour thing' wasn't a shining example of the club as a whole.
I'm not sure Gentle's man-management of the situation was one of his finer moments since arriving.
Perhaps he hasn't had the experience in the past and I expect he's learning on the job?
As for his media handling, he'd get an average from me, but hey-ho, I want him to be a successful head coach, not a media whore, we have somebody else at the club who successfully fills those responsibilities.
