I'm sceptical TBH. Singh was on a decent contract by all accounts and we weren't that far short of the cap that year. And we were never clever enough to manipulate the cap to our advantage before or since.

Watching Thurston against Melbourne at the weekend made me incredibly jealous. Everyone knows about his awesome skill in attack but it was great to watch his desire and will to win, he was single handedly trying to haul the rest of his team mates up to somewhere near his level and his efforts in defence were unreal.
