| Quote: sutton park b+w "I have just watched the game for a second time and now my blood pressure is back to something like normal,my feelings are that we did,nt throw the game away it was taken from us. If you only have 12 sets in the second half you will struggle to hold onto a lead,Ganson is not the only problem to our game,Cummings is the major problem that and the fact we,re probably the only sport that does not play to the rules i.e. forward passes, offsides, ineffectual linesmen etc.'"
I've posted this previously but it is a very important point which is now also backed up by the Stobart sponsorship decision. At one of our fans forums at Hull Truck, Stuart Cummings was invited and fair-play to him, he came and answered questions. One thing he said was that he didn't have enough quality referees to be able to drop ones who have a bad game. He asked for more money to be allocated to them by the Chairs of the superleague clubs when the money is divied up and guess what the answer was? They voted against it! Now the same Chair's turn down proper cash sponsorship and take the advertising deal with Stobart and we are still moaning about poor refereeing performances. Some of the clubs who voted against this are in no position to complain and I would love to know who voted what.
My second point is my own opinion that two part-time refs following the Aussie model would be better than one full-time ref policing the whole game. We seem to blindly adopt the same rule changes/tweaks that the aussies do which contribute to a faster game but don't have this luxury. The RFL send out directives that refs will be policing a particular infringement e.g. play the ball (which is fine by me) but it lasts 2-3 weeks then it's back to business as usual.
This is a massive issue for the game but when our team is winning we don't give a toss and it's about time that changed.

Why should the officials get more money, do you think they have improved since they become full time? I don't, standard has probably got worse.

I don't. Think you have misunderstood slightly. I fully agree with you and think they should be part-time again. When i say give them more money, I don't mean individually. I mean so there is more of them.

| Gansons positioning was poor he stood head on with the play so spotting a forward pass would have been difficult. The fact that there as supposed to be goal line ref says to me he should have been concentrating on his job and not been trying to do the in goal judges job as well. It seems that too many refs egos are too big to officiate the games they should work as a team and share out the responsibility.

it's always been the same mate - the general standard is as it was ten, twenty, thirty etc years ago - refs seems to be fitter today though which makes it even more amazing that so many forward passes are not spotted with the refs being up with the play more than before
I thought Mr Hicks had a good game for the Cas v Wakey contest and Mr Stokes did well in his first SL game - difficult to find fault with either IMO

There was nothing wrong with Ganson's positioning.
He possibly should have seen it anyway but that doesn't exclude the lino who has no excuse for missing it.
My only logical reason that the lino didn't give it was if he thought in that instant that there was an FC hand involved (Although that too would be wrong).

| Ganson should have seen it from where he was but didn't, so then looked at his touch judge who also like a normal touch judge, does bugger all! Ganson should have also seen the push on McDonnell from Briscoe that helped you lot! Get over it you lost! Ganson had nothing to do with Seymour missed tackle or will sharp speed when hodgeson(30 odd yrs old) skinned em hahaha

Opinions are just that.: |

| Quote: cod'ead "I certainly don't think it's the last we'll hear from it but I do expect that our coach will follow the usual channels, as opposed to whingeing in the media. I thought it was hilarious to hear Sandercock criticising the VR decison for KR to drop out because he "clearly saw" that Briscoe had put the ball dead.
I'm pleased we have a head coach who can keep his emotions in check and knows how to make complaints, I'm also convinced that the way he conducts himself means that any complaint he may have will be listened to with a sympathetic ear.'"

Quote from Peter Gentle on the BBC website "I would expect an apology from Steve Ganson (for the Dobson try) I don't know whether they do that over here, but I expect him to call me up and say 'I got that one wrong'."

Disagree on this you don't stand head on in the in goal area it would have been better to be side on with the play. I am to defending him as its probably worst decision this season so far and will take some beating.

| What you need is a bang average Aussie fullback like ours. All refs are now scared of Shannon thus meaning we get the rub of the green. It's a fact, take one ref out and the rest live in fear! What forward pass?

it was such a bad decision, I mean so bad as to make me wonder if Ganson thought a Hull hand made contact with the ball on it's way through to Dobson ?
I'm sure there will be equally contentious decisions this season - officials are human ,allegedly so it's just a matter of time until the next howler...

| What sickens me is the fact that no one will reprimand or question this guys awful decisions. Referees just carry on regardless and until they appear to be all singing from the same hymn sheet the game will remain to be ruined by that dreaded word interpretation!!!

| If he thought a hull player touched it he would of motioned another 6 tackles which he didnt. The distance the ball travelled he should of seen it as a forward pass.
