For a TV game, it is normal to have the lights on from before the Live Broadcast goes out; for a non-tv game they can be switched on at the request of the Ref, Match Commissioner or Ground Safety Officer at any stage.
In inclement weather, it is normal for lights to be on before the game starts.
A degree of common sense is applied when requesting them on as they are typically expensive to run and operate. |
