Could be a good move to have him as academy coach knowing all his contacts on the local amateur scene,he could snap up & coming talent before our more famous rivals.

I am quite happy with that, like I have already mentioned he is an experienced successful coach at conference level, and was always highly thought of by his teams and every-one in the amateur rugby scene. I hope he develops even more under Gentle and makes a good career out of it.

At least he'll have his finger on the pulse: Not only at Hull Fc but the modern side of the game as a whole. He's had a vast array of coaches and players around him over his career. For me it is the right decision for him to retire, he'd started to show some cracks in his game and lacked the intensity to be a viable member of the squad, coupled with him suffering more injuries.
