its a shame it didnt really work out with Longy as when hes been on the field hes been a class act IMO..

I think with the recruitment next year theres no chance of us retaining him..Id personally like to see him in some kind of coaching capacity next year.

Yes it is. You could just declare the maximum he could possibly be paid into the cap but you would only actually pay him for what for the games he plays.

But it would be a truly horrible way to manage the cap.

Imo we should let him and Fitz retire gracefully: Both have been and still are fantastic servants to the game, but we (Hull Fc) have to move forward and resigning these two players will not do that. If Fitz's injury is as bad as suspected by some then he'll become as much of a passenger as Long. Coaching capacity? Now that's another thing all together.

Long and Fitz are both legends of the game in their respective countries. Anything Long has done which has been controversial during his career does not distract from that imo.

Without a doubt he's made some massive mistakes during his career/younger days.
I also doubt anyone should question his "overall" commitment to the game and the clubs he has played for. His achievements during his career are second to none and he has left behind some wonderful memories for the fans that watched him play. When all is said and done, he's no Kickayne.

Longs best years were all pre-FC and when he was wearing a Saints shirt. Hes achieved nothing with us including hardly playing so to hype him up over what he did five years ago is all a bit pointless imo. If we resign him it'll be a major blunder and will leave Ellis wondering wtf he's bothered even signing with us for.

He IMO, should go be a massive mistake to keep him on the playing staff.

Although overall a poor signing without him last year we wouldn't have made the playoffs IMO.

If you read my post I agree he is a fantastic player...however definatley not a legend in the role model sense for the game, though he may well be one for the lads!

Can't see why any Hull fan would get dewy eyed over long. He did well for saints but so what? Has been a disaster signing for Hull
