Quote: roamintherange "I don't dispute any of your points however (as your quoting me directly) please show me where I said the directors where in this for 'massive' personal gain? Also please make me aware of any points in the quoted post which are incorrect? Anyone beleiving this board have invested money in Hull FC to lose money overall are also utter loons!! They may have been willing to make short term losses but you know as well as I do they are here to make long term profits.'"

And therein lies the answer "profits" Profits from a successful club - ON and OFF the field.
What people fail to grasp is this club have learnt from previous mistakes that led to it almost becoming extinct.
They have set or are setting the foundations so this doesn’t happen again.
When it comes together all those who are ‘undecided’ as to whether they’ll ever attend another game will be back telling us all they’ve supported the club throughout.

I don't dispute that and hope your right but no one from the club has come out and said we know we'll be crap for the next 3 years but bear with us it'll come good in the end. I for one am not happy at having to pay my money up front to watch this crap any more!! I'm not stopping supporting the club but I'm going to pick and choose based on performance, if they play well they'll get more of my money. It makes me no less a fan than anyone else, it's what choice is all about. icon_biggrin.gif

Quote: hullbg "Nobody is disputing we have turned around as a club off the field and it is something i have backed the club 100% over. Some people slate Rule/Kath etc but i think they have done an outstanding job on the whole. However the major part of the club is on the field and we have failed to deliver for to long and the fans are getting sick of it.'"

Spot on. We can have as many grade A licences and profits as we like, but success in this game is measured on the field. We are simply not good enough there and being great off the field therefore becomes almost pointless.

Quote: Mrs Barista "Was combining your and Ian P's "golden goose" points - you said the directors motivation was to make money, my argument would be that few business people would invest in sporting clubs if they were serious about a financial return being their primary motivation. They've been in the business for 10 years or so the fact that they're still miles and miles off being able to take a dividend means it's a very very long payback period. As stated, they'll make a few quid when they sell, but off the back of work they've done to make us one of the only self-sustaining businesses in the competition, so deservedly so.'"

I never made a golden goose claim? I simply said they can't take their money out of the club that easily. The directors charged us a reasonable interest on the money they loaned us so they have made some money from that and ATEOD no one knows what their ROI will be when they sell the club but IMO they are not here to lose money.

Owning a sporting club provides presteige to those who can afford it and let's be honest Rugby league is harldy a millionaires play ground is it so the risk isn't as great as football. A sleeping giant of the game if handled correctly with one of the biggest and most loyal fan bases in the game is a failry good long term bet.

My point on the financials where simply that if the club sense they will start to lose more money than changing something will cost because fan's have had enough, they will more likely change smething than not, or would you disagree?

That's happened at every club year after year; it'll happen long after Agar and Co have gone.
I am not having a go at you or anyone else that makes that choice.

My choice will be to attend as many matches as possible, the same as it always has been.

I've seen some god awful games over the decades of watching Hull Fc, but games like St Helens (home and away) etc will live long in my memory: Those times make me want more.

Quote: Ian P "your right And just how much cash are the current board members making out of the 'Golden Goose' Ian? I assume you have accurate figures to share since you keep banging on about this at every available opportunity.

We spend at the cap. We play in the best stadium in the league. We spend on academy and community projects. We make a profit. I honestly don't see how anyone without a personal axe to grind can have a problem with that.

As for the 'fans' having ago at fellow supporters for being 'sheep' - get over yourselves FFS. If you want to sulk and abandon the club out of some misplaced notion that it will help then that's your prerogative. Knock yourselves out. But lose the sneering disdain for people who simply want to follow their club through thick and thin. It just makes you look like a bunch of dicks TBH.

Well said Kosh....dont forget this is the bloke who claimed after the cock up with Thackery that he wouldnt go again yet turned up at Wembley...is he the biggest sheep going?

As for passes...sure,im re-newing mine for these reasons.

1- Been a fan for 35 yrs...not going to let a play off defeat stop me from following the team i love,.

2-cost of a pass is very very good.

3-very good seat in a superb stadium.

4-Have seen a bloody damn site worse that this and coaches..( Gordon,Casey and Walsh spring to mind)

5-Im a sheep...baaaaa baaaaa.

Fantastic off the field. Rule is a good guy and does an excellent job. There is no way in the world that anyone that wants to make money would sink their savings - or worse borrowings - into any sports club and certainly not a Rugby League club where the scale is too small to make anything worthwhile but where you could still easily lose your shirt. The people running the club I'm certain want success , love the prestige and would like the adoration - ok gratitude - of the fans if they could turn the team into winners. I just think that they are just not getting the recruitment right. There have been some major clangers in the recruitment and retention of players and coaches which have compounded each other and further compounded by our injuries and "bad luck". I've said all season that I can't see that we will make progress from here and fear that this year was in fact a bit of a pinnacle. We've got a lot of players who will be older and more tired next season , some with question marks over their form and health with just a couple of youngsters who we can have really high hopes for. Other teams that have at least looked better than us this year and some that are better look to have improved for next year. Without any signings it looks like a long close season and a long and tough season next year. The board will have their work cut out to engage this fan and persuade me to renew my pass rather than pick and choose my games.

In many ways I applaud the board for wanting to create some stability in terms of the head coach and not making knee jerk reactions etc but they really haven't picked the best man for the job. Fair enough they gave Agar a chance but he just isn't the required standard for a top 4 club. He MAY be in the future but as all his coaching skill/experience has come from failed coaches at this club I don't see how he will improve. Next season will be very difficult for Agar as we will all be expecting us to improve again but i can't see it happening without some big signings.

The club have not been in the mix for the trophies for 3 season. Why is that??? Is it due to the quality of the coach/coaching staff and/or the playing staff?? What does the club need to acquire better coaches and/or players??? OUR MONEY that's what icon_idea.gif

So we can all get our disappointed butts down to the ticket office for the season passes when the time comes and I will see you all there again next season icon_wink.gif

Have a happy winter folks icon_biggrin.gif
