I thought league standings stood as official end of season placings but the prize money is based on where you finish in the play offs.

Quote: berrigans bitch "Fair point so if the play-offs (knock out rugby) are included in ranking, which is based on performance throughout the season, were does the challenge cup games lie in all this, because theorectically they must count as they are games.

And no matter what happens even after the play-offs, every time we bring up a league table for 2010 it will always place Hull FC 6th. Where is this ranking table displayed at the end of the grand final.'"

The Challenge Cup is a different competition to the Super League.

Anyway we are just going round in circles here.

We are icon_lol.gif

I have sent an e-mail to James Rule and the RFL to clarify the issues once and for all!

Quote: Lostyorkie "Biggest blunder has to be Peter Sharp

Under his watch

Briscoe to Rovers due to his love for Motu.
Getting rid of Danny Brough
Cussack recruitment
Dykes recruitment
Getting rid of Anthony Thackery'"

Yet took us to grand final and 4/5th in the league and through a play-off match.

Briscoe was down to him and agent wanting more money.
Brough was Discipline and no great loss.
Cusack was bought thanks to Carvell dicking us about.
Dykes was a gamble....class when on pitch.
Thackery hardly played for us.

Cooke was a big blow yes and i still dont think we have replaced him yet....he was a ball playing organising L/F....Nt a battering prop/2nd rower we employ now.

In the last 12 months the biggest blunders were not appointing T Smith whe we had the chance and also not appointing B Noble when we had the chance

Totally agree, if my memory serves me right a lot of posters laughed at us when we hoped we would get him icon_biggrin.gif

The CC is a separate competition with it's own rules and open to clubs outside of SL.

The league table shows the rankings at the end of the league rounds. The way SL is structured now the league rounds are basically a qualifying competition for the playoffs. We finished 6th in that sub-competition. However, the champions are not selected until after the playoffs and so the season is still 'live' until after the GF and placings for the top 8 clubs are not fixed until the season ends.

You can agree with it or not, but that's the way it's organised. The table is 'frozen' at the end of the league campaign because it would be too confusing to re-jig it after the playoffs - you'd effectively have to have a table that showed two finishing positions for the top 8 clubs.

ATEOTD it's pretty much an irrelevant argument anyway. Who cares where you finish if you don't win something?

He didn't come to Rovers expecting medals straightaway - he signed in only our second SL season. icon_rolleyes.gif However FTR he is really proud and he loves playing for a club where he is appreciated and respected. icon_mrgreen.gif c020.gif icon_cool.gif icon_wink.gif

That would have been awesome..

Nobby s the best English coach there is, some claimed he only looked good with the players he had, well his sucess this year has put that claim to bed, won me a few quid as well icon_biggrin.gif

You are probably right Kosh...however I await offical confirmation because every-one who I speak to (apart from this board) disagree icon_biggrin.gif
