Quote: hullbg "I know the point Sebasteano is making regarding signing ageing players (Long/Fitz) Meley is a different story as he still has plenty of years in him. I was quite happy with the signing of Long but i always assumed we would be bringing in a understudy as well but it has not happened.
Fitz has definatley done well, but he is getting overworked because he can do the full 80. Long has been the biggest dissapointment of the 3 for me and not because of the injuries as i think we all expected him to be injured and miss a few games. I just expected us to click more with him on the pitch, yet we have seen just as many lacklustre performances were we look clueless in attack with him in the squad as we have without him.'"

And the reason for that is? a046.gif

We have a poor coach who has no clue on how RL should be played. We could have 13 of the best players in world rugby playing for us and Agar will get them playing one out rugby, not supporting play, no dummy runners, no kicking game, no one running on the angle etc, etc.

I have simply had enough of watching drab RL, i will not be renewing my pass for 2011...the first time in 14 years! I will of course still support the guys but i'll pick and choose the games icon_cry.gif icon_mad.gif

Quote: Standee "I know someone who was party to the conversation with James Rule, that's good enough for me.'"

Knowing someone who was party to one conversation and them relaying that conversation to you doesn't seem like a 'definite' basis for deciding anything. One conversation does not necessarily betray the events leading up to that conversation and apportioning blame based on someone else's version of events is always risky.

For example, if EXPRO and Jake The Peg had witnessed the same conversation, I reckon you'd get two very different versions of what actually took place.

There are enough reasons to be sceptical about Agar's suitability for the job based on things that we can see. I just don't think it's helpful to assume that there are more reasons based on stuff we haven't witnessed first hand.

Quote: Standee "The issue for me with Long was the anticipated impact he would have on tactics, even in training, our lack of attacking options should have been addressed by his arrival, he's either not getting involved or not being allowed to get involved.'"

This is a very good point you make .

Quote: Kosh "Can't agree. Our backs are nowhere near the quality of the other sides I listed.

Our forwards are probably on a par or better.'"

You reckon? Who had ever heard of george carmont or amos roberts before they came over? Similarly pat richards. None of them were considered that great before this season. Add in an inexperienced goulding and a past his best martin gleeson and it's hardly a 3/4 line of superstars. they've been playing their star half back at full back recently and leuluai is flitting between hooker and SH.

leeds and saints have pretty much been relying on kids all season in the 3/4's due to injuries.

wire I'll give you but I think we have plenty of quality in our back line, we just don't use it. We have a current GB winger who hardly ever touches the ball and a former GB centre who gets similar service

I'd heard of them! But you'd be right in saying they were good, if not exceptional NRL players It just shows how poor the standard in SL is compared to the NRL, despite what the RFL and SKy would have you believe.

Quote: Sal Rossi "I'm not saying you're wrong but in your opinion, who are our 'Pat Richards' and 'George Carmont' then?

How so? Because they're playing for a SL rookie coach? Bear in mind where he served his apprenticeship; probably the current best model for a RL coaching set-up anywhere in the modern game. Wigan play to their manifold strengths. And they have more than one game plan.

I was disappointed with our performance on Friday on a whole host of levels. Watching the game again, trying to be subjective, Wigan were classes apart. Everywhere across the pitch. And in the stands.

We're a big club with regards to finance [income] and support. Unfortunately we don't appear to have a big club mindset anywhere else.'"

Who had ever heard of richards and carmont before they came over? Hardly world class signings, plus wigan were reported to want to get rid of richards a couple of seasons back. They're both solid players but I doubt they'd be more than fringe players at most top NRL clubs.

How do you think yeaman and briscoe would go in teh wigan back line? Briscoe in particular is better quality than any of the wigan 3/4's

I thought the reason the current GB winger hardly ever touches the ball is because he's playing outside the former GB centre who never passes to him

Quote: bringbackbuck "I can't let that one pass! We're nowhere near them. If I picked a composite team very few FC would get in.

1. Amos Roberts
2. Tom Briscoe
3. Martin Gleeson
4. George Carmont
5. Pat Richards
6. Sam Tomkins
7. Thomas Leuluai
8. Mark O'Meley
9. Mark Riddell
10. Andy Coley
11. Joel Tomkins
12. Craig Fitzgibbon
13. Sean O'Loughlin

14. Danny Houghton
15. Stuart Fielden
16. Sam Moa
17. Cameron Phelps

So by my count 3 in the starting line up; 5 in the 17. Doesn't look like we're equal in strength and I almost took Paleasina ahead of Moa.'"

You're picking players on form though. yes, we'd take plenty of wigan players now, but how many Hull players would look much better under maguire?

I think you're mistaken, people were delighted we won the derby but I don't recall anyone (except yourself, the Expro and one or two others) getting carried away that we were an excellent side all of a sudden. '"

Really?
You'll have to remind me of the people who used the term, "excellent side".

It's because yeaman sees that little of the ball he wonders what the egg shaped thing is when it comes his way

like ive said before our team isnt that bad, yeh ok we could do with 1 or 2 more signings in certain positions but when you look at wigan team on paper it isnt great, leeds, saints, wire have all better teams on paper but its the coaching. if we had a top class coach and we were well orginised ect then alot of our current players would look alot better the likes of yeamen, tansey, horne ect who have been critisised recently. when mcguire took other wigan he brought in 1 player in deacon who hasnt played alot at all and turned them from finishing 5th or whatever it was to top of league comfortably playing some great attacking rugby without bringing a wholelot of players in. what im saying is alot of our players who arnt really performing atm but under a good coach these players would flurish

Say Wigan finish 1 Warrington 2 and both DON:T make the Grand Final and Warrington don't make the Cup Final How would they fan feel ..Its possible the Grand Final could be Saints v Leeds plus the Cup Final could be Saint/Leeds v Catalan it just one of those seasons were anything could happen ..The Grand Final could even be 2 dark (horses ) Teams

Forget form; the Wigan players are a different class. Yes they are playing better, but they are also better.

Perhaps could make a case for Manu (btw it is a scandal he's in the england squad.)
