Quote: Jake the Peg "The only function of the club's youth development system is to bring talent through to 1st team level. On Friday, only 5 of the 17 came through the Hull youth system and they came through over a period of around 10-12 years.

I've said before that I don't think youth development is all it's cracked up to be at the club and is probably worse than you would expect if it was even average given the strength of amateur RL in the area. It certainly seems to have gone downhill since mcrae left. Maybe rovers competing for players in a factor'"

Maybe it's more to do with the people from hull mentality?

When was the last top player we produced? Look a bit deeper when was player in a pivotal position, Is it a confidence thing?

Quote: barham red "As an outsider looking in you seem to have an element who will never want Agar in charge of your team regardless of how you are playing. The statement that players like Long, O'Meley, Berrigan and Fitzgibbon coach themselves and are the reason you are winning is flawed as these players all played when you where playing poorly earlier in the season. Where they ultimately at fault for your loss to crusaders for instance, Agar took the hit for that one.

Brown seems to get praise heaped on him from all corners yet the wheels seem to be coming off there season at rapid knots, you're sitting comfortably above. Hodgeson is looking a million miles from the player he was and since the Brough signing they look out of balance as a squad. Is that the sign of a good coach.

McGuire is doing well at the pies, it will be interesting to see how he goes next year, often when a coach is changed, a new man arrives you get a step improvement in performances. To some extents you have seen it at your club, Sharp came in and you get 2nd, Agar came in and you got a wembley appearance. Its about keeping it that up that matters and to some extent Brown is feeling that.'"

shut up and quit your jibber jabber, your post is far too positive, flawless and educated for this board!! icon_lol.gif

Quote: wolfie "Your right mate its the first thing that comes in to peoples heads when we lose, some people just dont want him here and find it hard to give him the credit he deserves, now we are winning its all to do with webster, long, omeley, fitz, yes dont get me wrong they will be massive assets to helping agar but at the end of the day rich is the first team coach and he picks the team
every week and coaches them.just imagine if we had beaten salford, crusaders,im not getting carried away with this run and neither is rich as he has said in paper,he will be the first to admitt we still have a long way to go,but lets just enjoy it while we can
eusa_clap.gif well said Wolfie, grand final and two CC recently is not enough you see!!

Possibly, although I would wager it's down to Berrigan in no small part too.

It is clear to see that SB has had a massive influence on Minty and everyone can see that , however he has also worked very hard with Craig too on his postitional play and his tackling which is also paying off week by week but that is what you would hope from your senior players isnt it??
Fitzy has spent a bag of time with with Danny W which is clear to see as his game has improved no end recently and even Shrek has been working with Ewan with his ball carrying technique which has seen him running harder and more upright recently hence his own game has developed and they dont get more senior than Ewan so everyone can learn .
I know i am rambling but that is part and parcel of a senior players role in modern rugby and that is to implement your own experience into extra curricula activity with junior players and nothing to do with external underhand coaching or conspiracy theories..
Believe it or not but when RA lays out his plan game by game everyone listens and many have knowledge of the opps so they have imput also and then they go away and try to put it together on the island , its when things get tough that the seniors then try to keep the squad on track and playing as per the game plan, which at present is it seems starting to pay dividends!!
The confidence is high at present, the injuries are all shaping up nicely ready for the business end of the season , those teams in our way as far as may loose fixtures are in my opinion going to be distracted by Wembley dreams so with all that in the mix we have a real shout of a gallop to Old Trafford ...as it stands

if we keep on improving i agree we can't rule out the possibility of old trafford... but that is a big IF

i would like to see more confidence in our performances and in turn, more consistency

our last game is against leeds and it could quite easily be a battle for 4th place, and also a good warm up for the play-offs (against the best team in the comp IMO)

Unfortunately there are some who adopt a position on a coach or player and will then defend that position regardless of the reality. These people refuse to accept that situations and people can change, either for better or worse, and will twist and turn in order to avoid facing that possibility.

Well, I may be in a minority, but I am swaying towards Agar.4th (for now) a tremendous comeback against Saints,a decent team bonding, and some good results.I would have paid gold for that last season.

Not a minority, like everyone else you were dissapointed in recent seasons and expected the same this year however RA stated clearly that rome wasnt built in a day and we are now starting to see the growth he predicted !!
