If you are not part of the solution then you are more likely part of the problem...: |
|
| Quote: Mild Rover "Would you have preferred Ellis inside him to cope with Inglis, or are you happier with a more natural centre in Smith? The Aussie left winger didn't look too frightening against the Kiwis, though neither did Hayne on the other side of the pitch, in fairness.'"
I wonder if there will be a late change positionally but looking at the pack and the bench Smith obviously sees this as an area where he thinks we can beat the Aussies.
i actually think we should play a centre at centre and not plan our whole game around defending against Inglis. Who is to say Inglis wouldnt run around, over or through Ellis, etc?

In an ideal world we would have a centre with Ellis' build and defensive strengths and Smiths pace!
Maybe we could play both at the same time? Some sort of dispensation - is Hudge busy next week? tell him to get on the phone with the IRFL.

dont see any of our boys being run over to be honest, they are all decent defensive players when needed, defence will not be an issue in this match i believe it will be wether we can break down their line speed wether we win or not
Briscoe will not let anyone down , hes a solid enough lad

possibly because he's not in form, unlike earlier in the season when those comments were made.
good luck to tom Briscoe, hope he gets a hat trick tomorrow as after all he's representing England against the convicts.

No one said Briscoe will let us down, the point was that players like Inglis are a world apart from what we have.

never quoted you as saying you had friend!! however I simply said that I do not believe they are that far apart if anything at all!!
I remember someone once saying on TV years ago " I cant see how this little welsh fellow will cope with the power and size of the Australian captain"
that little welsh fellow creamed him all match and scored one of the greatest trys of all time for Gt Britain at wembley against the then all conquering Oz team!!
(was a better player than a pundit tho)
so my point is that Briscoe will play against what is in front of him and lets be fair Briscoe hits well above his weight also
He will be ok

that is of course if you believe like everyone else that we will be camped in our 20 all match!!! which i do not believe we will be!
If we can play the ball quickly we can beat their line speed and keep turning them around
FWIW I think that tomorrow will see the emergence of three world class young players gaining plaudits from all over the globe!!
good luck to the three of the young kids!!

We don't need to be camped in our 20 for defence to be key. Missing a one on one tackle in their 20 could easily lead to a try against the aussies. I don't think we have the intensity in defence to put them under the pressure we need to

| I cant see us scoring many points against the Australians. They are far superior in the backs and our only hope is that it is belting down with rain throughout the match and it turns into a forward battle even then I think we will struggle to contend with them.
I personally think the Australians will target Tom Briscoe from the cross field kicks as for me it's his weakest part of the game that needs developing. Thank god Israel Folau isnt playing against him!

exactly, inglis is the world's best centre, we dont have anyone who can front up to him if he is on form
