| Quote: theatregirl "was watching the team in the dressing room at half time and there appeared to be no sign of Agar, isn't he supposed to do a team talk of some sort. His body language all through the game said it all. No interest at all.'"
On the subject of body language etc, one thing I thought was a disappointing sign was the seeming lack of concern for Whiting from his teammates. He was obviously in a bad way, but the most he got was 2 or 3 little pats on the back and everyone just walking away. To say we have been told about how together this group of players are it didn't really look like it.

| Quote: Wilde 3 "Game plan was meant tongue in cheek yes - however, the statement was correct in that coaches do not get long to talk to the players'"
They may not get long to talk to them as a team but the good coaches pick out those who need those extra words of encouragement and they will speak to the playmakers and explain were the weaknesses etc are so they can try and exploit them in the 2nd half. Just because a player is receiving treatment it does not stop their ears working.

I disagree, I am sure most were upset for Whiting however unfortunately it is a hazard of the job, the players must concentrate/focus on the job in hand and let the qualified people deal with the injury. That is why you rarely see players flocking around an injury on a pitch, unless it is u9/10s of course!

| Quote: Wilde 3 "I think it has been said before by a coach, but they only really get 2-3 minutes to talk to the players in the 'sheds' at half time, the other is treatment etc - so in fairness our half time talk could have finished, and he left the players to think about what their part of the game plan was.'" So why is it that whenever the camera is on other team's dressing rooms the coach has the players in a circle giving them their instructions with treatment usually still carrying on in the background. If this was the norm in other dressing rooms I wouldn't have mentioned it.

Go to say I agree with you Karen, nearly everytime on Sky you see the dressing rooms at half time with the players all sat round with the coach stood or sat in the middle talking or ranting at all or certain players but can't say I have honestly ever seen that happen with Hull FC as whenever the camera shows our dressing room its just the players doing their own thing.

It wasn't so much that I'd expect them to flock around him, it was more that I found it remarkable how few even seemed to come over. Especially considering he'd just scored a try too.

Fair point...however I view it differently what I see is pure professionalism on display. My lad plays U17s (captain as well), and when I ask him how nasty injuries (there has been a few over the years) affect him on the pitch he tells me you cannot afford to think about them and just get on with the game and that is the message he gives the lads.
Now brawls are a different matter, on Sunday a brawl broke out with a few in, a few yards away he saw one of his team mates getting it by 5 of their players, in he went and punched 3 and stood on his toes fists up offering the others out, they all backed off...that's my boy

Exactly.
Rugby players only stay down if they're in a bad way. Players know this and know to stay out the way and let the people who know what they're doing, get to the injured player.
We're just three games into our season and there's been a fairly bad injury in every one so far. Injuries are part and parcel of a sport so rough. It's this roughness and subsequent risk involved that attracts some players to the sport.
As you say, brawls are completely different. One in, all in.

Although most wouldnt admit it, i reckon that Agars links to Rovers greatest day through his dad has meant that he was up against it from day one with many Hull fans. Dont suppose 1983 did him any favours either.

Never occurred to me either. I was prepared to give him a chance and he seemed to have a lot of potential when he came from York

B0llocks...Agar clearly loved the club, he failed at his role of head coach end of story. One thing I will say was he was an excellent 2nd coach and unless he cuts it at Wakey that is all he will ever be.

No one even considered it, he's just rubbish.
No one was too concerned at the job Arthur Bunting did as coach
