I personally think the club see Phelps as a last resort, i.e Sammut does not arrive etc. I also think Rule and Agar are wary of signing another player with a utility tag, after so much was said after the clearout of 2009. However in the post Tansey era I don't think we can currently afford to be.
Why are we not being linked with Chris Bridge? I know he's not a worldbeater but he is an experienced SL centre and can cover at halfback if needed. Could struggle to get a place in Wire's side. Plus we have all heard how Agar and Smith are close on the back of the Myler enquiry.
Don't get me wrong I'd prefer an off the cuff player like Sammut but I'd hope with Bridge we have at least asked the question.
