| Quote Diogenes="Diogenes"Four times this season we have imploded in the final quarter when we were in a match-winning position. In the very first home game against Cats a last minute missed conversion saved our blushes. Then we were knocked out of the Cup by Salford and threw away two home points against Wakey. Finally a good performance at home to Cas saw us lucky to get a draw when we should have put the game to bed long before. We might have beaten both Salford and Cas had we elected to kick penalties awarded to us. I hope our new halves will help us control these sorts of games better but =#0000FFwe cant put it all on the halves. They are going to need support players and dummy runners and in all but a few matches this season this part of our game has been poor. Its no good calling on your halves to take on the line if there is no-one for them to pass to.'"
Totally agree. Recruitment will only improve things a little if we don't sort out our fundamental failings.

| Quote Staffs FC="Staffs FC"Good post. My hope is that our new halves will demand more on the field and that will contribute to the necessary improvement in shape and structure.'"
This is something that has frustrated me immensely with the club since Agar. IMO this is a core facet of how a team plays, and as such should mainly be a coaches responsibility. We seem to have handed it over to the halfbacks, which to me is asking them to do the coach's job for them. It should be sorted on the training field until it's carried out in matches automatically, we shouldn't need a halfback to tell grown men when and where to run like a teacher in a PE lesson.

| Quote easthull fc fan="easthull fc fan"Some good points here, I had a feeling we would go onto win on Friday night right on HT as we chose to take the 2, rather then panic & try to score a try, it's a thing we haven't had since Tickle left, it's about composure & the decision making, & it's not been with us for 95% of this season, it sometimes looks boring & as a fan you think why haven't we just tapped it & gone at the opposition as we look to have them on the ropes, but the set gets blown by dumb plays or a knock on, & it comes back to bite you later in the game, for instance Cas at home.'"
Ironically though a disciplined and confident side can happily take the two whilst a side like us often end up scoring two points and then making that dumb mistake you refer to under our own posts and then letting in a soft try making it a net -4.

Hence the word [icontribute[/i being used. If they are better equipped to execute the plan that can only help.

I wasn't saying [iyou[/i were passing the responsibility on to the halfbacks. You seem to be hoping that new halfbacks will be able to help the situation (as we all will be), but that's indicative of the point I was trying to make, we are hoping that new halfbacks will help pick up the slack being left by coaching deficiencies. The last 3 coaches and Pearson at some point have all seemed to consider it acceptable to just point at the halfbacks and say that the problem lies there (either that they haven't been good enough or that we have had injury absences), when there is so much that could/should be better regardless of who is playing there. All teams suffer without first choice/good enough halfbacks, but they don't all completely fall apart and regularly play like a bunch of strangers like we often have for the past half a dozen years.

| Jordan Rankin will get better and better when allowed to remain in the squad and not chopped and changed around as Radford tends to employ when making his selections. Have a little patience Lee, Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will H.F.C. be. We know you're the coach but lots of us have been following this game before you were born -we've managed to suss out a fair bit of nous. Grannyfan Cindy

| Quote HFC Boy="HFC Boy"Last night was brilliant . It is always great to win a derby . The nilling was extra special .
We can bask in the glory for now .
In the context of SL both sides are way off breaking into the top 4 .
Last night was a " City of Hull " RL Cup final . For SL it was a lower league clash that even Sky ignored.
Bragging rights are ours for now . I will enjoy it .
Then I look at the league table and see the real picture.
I apologise if being a realist is deemed by many on here as being negative .
12th place is not acceptable . Do you all think the players and Coaching staff think it is ? No !!
They would echo my sentiments .
As I say , sorry to upset people with my opinion. l love Hull FC with a passion and I will not accept this seasons mediocrity .
Last night was fantastic within the City limits of Hull .
Outside of those boundries in the SL 2014 had been unacceptable'"
This I agree with.
Fantastic win on Friday but Rovers were poor and we have being poor throughout the majority of the season, which probably made our performance look better then it actually was. Rovers are also a team outside the play offs, so when you put that into context it was no real mean feat.
A lot of work in pre season has to be done.

Not taking anything away from your performance as you dominated us in defence but i left happier with the score than I should because that could and should have been a 50+ drubbing. We played worse than we did against Cas and they ran in 11 tries, only Sneyds goal kicking that day stopped it being a bigger rout.
The state of both teams this year has been a crying shame for The RL supporting fans of this city.

WOW being able to turn a hammering and becoming the first kr team to be pointless in 50 years of derby games into a positive is some achievement.

Trust me there was no positives to be taken, only stating it could and should have been much much worse, which is a reflection of how bad we were and how impotent your attack was. Sad thing is we'll probably play well at the weekend, it seems a trait we all seem to recognise.
