Although the cost to install these rail seats is more than the current seating it would quickly pay itself back in my opinion as I think more than a majority would like to stand at the KC.
As I understand it,the ratio is 1.8 to 1 (standing/seating),so let's assume they installed 2000 of these seats in the east stand. So for every 2000 people seated you would have 3600 people standing(i think)...not only increasing capacity, but it would be safe to assume this would allow a reduction in ticket prices.
It's no surprise that the one country where this seating system is used extensively is Germany, where ticket prices are amongst the cheapest in Europe...
Those who have commented saying a standing section wouldn't improve the atmosphere clearly haven't been in the threepenny stand.
Whilst a modern marvel, the KC can resemble a library at times....dare I say we should glimpse east to our friends from across the river and the noise they generate from their terraced areas.
For me,this is a no-brainier....it's safe,it's economically viable and I think many fans would want it.'"
I've read on City forums that because of the size of the concourses, the maximum increase in capacity the KC can have at the moment is just short of 400, which is one of the main reasons they aren't being pushed even more by the clubs.
Personally, I prefer to stand, sitting isn't a big issue for me but I prefer to stand.
Also, I find the atmosphere is better when people are stood too.

In Adam we have trust
In peter we have belief
In our team we have pride: |
|
| Seating has killed the atmosphere in every single ground in britain. I can take or leave it mainly because I'm the annoying one who stands in seated areas at away games ( i can't sing sat down)

I think you're being a bit unfair there.
Saying that people will be more vocal simply because they're stood up is daft.
But saying that the atmosphere will pick up because people are allowed to move freely in a terraced area is not daft. In fact, it's a no-brainer as to why the atmosphere is better at away games with terracing than it is at home. Those that want to create a bit of noise gravitate together and make a load of noise. The fans become more spontaneous. In an all-seater, it's harder to get the atmosphere going because those spontaneous chanters are spread out more and find it harder to get it going.
People can claim they are a vocal fan, and many probably are. But how many of them regularly start the chants?

If The kc was selling out each week for football or rugby it would make sense to do it but as it isn't I don't see what the smc has to gain by doing it?

| I wouldn't object to a standing area at the KC. I do miss standing up, it always seemed to add more excitement to a game (even if that was just perception).
That said, I can attest to the 3d stand not being safe, as can the scar on my chin! Wouldn't have changed it for the world though

I am not sure even if someone had come up with the idea of safe standing at the time they would have even given it a second glance. That is why I say it was an over reaction and something like the image below would have been a very good compromise which would have been accepted by most people.
'"
I think the problem with that layout is whether to tell fans its an all seater game or all standing game. Otherwise you may have some wanting to sit and not being able to see for the standing fans in front, chaos reigns!

I believe the seats are lockable i.e. in Germany the seats are locked upright (standing) for a league game. Or locked down (seated) for a Champ league game, or other Euro comp
