initially according to James the deal agreed was that they would just release him from his contract but then they started asking for a fee, but eventually it has come down to the visa, simple really.

| I'm puzzled I must admit. If Chase rocks up in SA next week then there's no application in progress, so I guess we'll know a bit more then.
Also interested whether he might have a case for restraint of trade if UKBA are saying his conviction means he cannot change employer while in the UK. What happens if his relationship with Cas breaks down and he cannot move to another employer at all? Especially if he now has family here and therefore a potential Human Rights claim,
Can't imagine the RFL have refused to endorse the move either
Puzzling.

For a start I don't believe for a second that Cas would have parted with Chase for nothing.
Secondly, I just don't see why McRae would be angry about something that doesn't matter. It's like a cyclist being outraged at the price of petrol in case he ever passes his driving test and then manages to get a car.

I don't understand it either in terms of why it matters I am just posting what James has said - his answer in reply to someone asking why they would let him go for free -
James Smailes - not for me to explain why, but trust me they were about to. Cud argue why wud they sell 1 of their best?
Don't shoot the messenger

Oh I appreciate you're just relaying what others have said, didn't to come across as if I was having a go at you. I just find it hard to believe.

He doesn't have to be lying, he could just be wrong in good faith.

| As I understand it it is a bit of both the Visa issue and a move of the goalposts by Cas. Initially Cas were willing to just release him to get him off the wage bill and Hull started proceedings to change his Visa. This as we know was a major sticking point but Hull were ready to challenge this. Then Cas got a new CEO who didn't agree with giving him away for nothing and slapped a fee on his head. Progress will the visa was slow going and becoming costly so Hull were not willing to pay both the costly legal fees as well as a transfer fee. So will both Cas & Hull standing their ground Hull have decided to pull the deal as it was getting too costly to persue and not much headway was being made with UKBA. The likelihood is that Chase will not get a new visa next year and will have to leave these shores anyway, Cas now have to now either find the money (reportedly around 170K) to pay him for the next 12 months or cash in a lower fee and sell him to an NRL team.

So the fees were not set out at the start? Or they were increased halfway through? No wonder Hull weren't willing to pay.

| I may have missed it in previous pages, but if Chase can't renew his visa next year, can he still represent England/GB on English soil ?
