Whiting should stay at fullback for now see how he goes Horney back to 6 and Thorman back to the dole queue. G.Horne dropped and Hall back at centre.

If Whiting carries on at fullback I think it would be worth giving Horne a chance at LF. Certainly better than persisting with Radford there.

Depends if we have made a genuine move for Rooney, Horne could do very well at 13, he has the defence for it and it would allow him to "float" in and out of attacking situations as required. Whiting reads the game well so fb would be a god move, he can also take a high ball, the only issue is his pace if he is ever genuinely "last man", but with a decent structure to the side then it could be avoided.

2010 could see:

1 - Tansey
2 - Calderwood
3 - Yeaman
4 - Berrigan
5 - Raynor
6 - Rooney
7 - Long
8 - Fitzgibbon
9 - Houghton
10 - O'Meley
11 - Lauaki
12 - Horne (G)
13 - Horne (R)

Whiting
Washbrook
Manu
Briscoe
Burnett
Hall
Moa
Cusack

Which leaves us looking for winger(s) for 2011 onwards and cover at hooker stepping up from the reserves, also gets rid of Radford, King, Tickle, Thacks. (ie:the pi55 heads)

Nope, I think he would go well in that position, and at little expense.

Up until his injury I'd have agreed with you. Since his return, however, he's lost a lot of weight and his defence has suffered. Maybe that's down to him managing his diabetes and with some more work on his diet he could regain some weight and his defence would improve again.

Richard needs some confidence, that isn't coming from playing behind a beaten pack outside a useless half-back partner and knowing you are not in the right position for your talents, with a coach with no game plan, who doesn't understand interchanges, set plays or team tactics.

I can kind of forgive Richard his deficiencies this season.

Then you're totally bonkers. He's nowhere near a first choice spot of any kind. He's well behind just about every one of the players you listed below your first choice 13.

For someone who can't wait to say just how mediocre he thinks Whiting is, regardless of the fact that he's one of the best RL brains we have, it's even more baffling that you'd start G Horne.

I agree, Standee is bonkers. Could name a few at our club, Mike Burnett for one, who would be in front of him before we even consider availability of players from other clubs who would probably be on the same wage level.

All existing and generally known ways to immortality can be divided into four catagories. The way of the Fakir. The way of the Monk. The way of the Yogi. The most honourable being 'The way of the FC' Sebasteeno = CLUELESS:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_14059.jpg

Quote: Staffs FC "No he can play at 6 or 13. Paul Cooke has no more pace than Rich Whiting. Paul Cooke doesn't make 30+ tackles and 10+ hit ups. Rich Whiting has in the past 'owned' bigger more powerful centres despite not being a centre. The fact is he is a better footballer than Thorman, R Horne, Tony and clearly has more skill than Radford Tickle et al who have played at 13. So 6/13 whatever the guy needs to be given a role where he can make defences start thinking and making decisions like he did today against one of the league's better defences. Don't complicate the issue. He came on at FB (where he is less effective) and helped to transform our attacking options. That was demonstrable today to anyone watching. The guy should be given a pivotal ball playing role. Forget tackles and hit-ups - let's start asking questions of the opposition instead of grafting our way down the middle.'"

That's the best summation I've read, and I agree with 100%. The lad is pure rugby league, he must have been conceived on the pitch and born in the dressing room icon_wink.gif .
6/13 in direct contest with Washy, I think Whiting is the better of the 2.

Quote: east hull FC fan "whiting better than washy???? Washy comes up a shade better in every area, whiting is close but just not as good. Would like them both on the pitch at the same time tbh at 6 or 13, not really fussed which way round!'"

IMO Whiting is the better playmaker of the two, reads the game superbly , hence all the interceptions, man if he had pace, he'd be a class centre.

Disagree.

I think Washys overall skill set is better suited to LF than Whitings. Whiting is one of those players who can't command a postion, but is excellent back up due to his ability to be solid wherever he plays.

Couldn't agree more. As for a lack of pace Whiting isn't that slow and certainly no slower than Wellens who still gets rated as one of the top FB's in SL.
He looked asured and comfortable at FB, would prefer to see him there than Horne.
