With our squad now down to it's bare bones, is paying top money for one player a good move? I think that signing 2 squad payers would be a better option, a centre or full back and half/hooker cover would be a much better move.

As much as I can;t bare the thought of us going backwards this season, I think it is in the best interests of the club to not panic buy and only sign the right players. If its means we have to play the young players, then so be it. I really don't think Phelps or Moore are good enough and would rather play Lyne/J.Briscoe and Williams.

Phelps certanly has the ability to cover a number of positions, he has played at stand-off in the past and can play wing or centre too as well as full back.

He started the season like a house on fire for Wigan until his injury.

True, he surprised me and most Wigan fans were happy with him. He was keeping Roberts out for a while too.

If Phelps is this good then why has no one signed him? We have been short of backs all off season and pre Tansey getting sacked we could have signed him and that would have allowed Tansey to cover 9 and 7, but we never. So that suggests to me that he is not good enough in Agar's eyes.
