| Quote: Wire Yed "When have teams like Cas and Wakey ever looked like they could compete for the league?
If teams can't afford a marquee player they auction off their ticket to the highest bidder, it's money for nothing, if they're concerned about other clubs pulling away don't sell off your ticket, at the end of the day though it's only one player who will be injured/rested sometimes, I don't understand the fear?'"
As MR has pointed out, Wakey have won the league more recently than Wire. Nothing worse than the nouveau riche sneering at the less well off.
How much do you reckon a 'golden ticket' would be worth? Given that it would have zero value for the selling team, I'd expect bids to start low. A single ticket certainly wouldn't generate enough cash to make a significant difference to the fortunes of the selling club, while enabling the buyer to pull further and further away.
A single 'marquee' player per team would be tolerable, although potentially further distorting an already uneven competition. Multiple such players renders the entire cap pointless and would cause major harm.

I don't look at it as simplistic as that.

| If you want a truly competitive league reduced the cap to a level everyone can afford and have a draft for the academy players.

Maybe they'd be better if they'd had a wealthy supporter to buy the club and finance a move from their shiithole ground to a shiny modern one and fund £millions in losses to pay for a better team than their support base could fund

| You do know Wire make more profit than any other club?
That's the club's profit not Morans.
How's the shared council stadium going for you?

They make a profit because moran funded a move to a new stadium and left you with no debt.

| We make a profit because he hired very competent people to run the club, Moran injects little into the club, if we need to stump up a transfer fee there he is, warm weather training in Australia boom there we go again, the stadium though and club management doesn't need his money, if he pulled out tomorrow we'd be sustainable and still make profit.

More than leeds? It was reported that we are second only to them in merchandise sales, so unless warrington are charging a hell of a lot for corporate then you need to back it up, you got less than 10k attendences for a few games last year too.
As for our shared stadium, its fine, we dont have to worry about the up keep saving us more money!

| After tax, we make more than Leeds and Wigan.
I would imagine that Headingley has heavy running costs.

| after a few google searches, each one came up with leeds as the most profitable rugby league club in england!
i think our warrington friend has too much pride to admit it!
going back to the game on sunday, i expect warrington to come out all guns blazing for the first twenty, keep them out or frustrate them i think we may have a chance

I know Leeds turnover more than anyone around 9 million but I'm sure with outgoings, the stadium being a profit eater, they don't earn the most, Wire make around 7 million before tax and overheads.
