| Quote: Standee "opinion from people that went was that both venues were fine, neither had people stood outside unable to get in IIRC.'"
But a bigger venue, reduced tickets = full ground = more publicity = better image on BBC
Empty seats in Donc for Leeds Cas was a joke, people thought it was a sell out so didnt bother with tickets.
If we really want to be bigger and better then we need to start aiming high

A bigger ground would get a bigger crowd, or have a double header, Elland Rd 38k

but there aren't 38,000 people interested in a double header, a bigger crowd (and Elland Road is a hole anyway) costs more to steward, police etc.
we can't even sell out the final!

Ok, how about (for a season, just to liven it up) switch the 2 finals
CC at OT and Playoff at Wembley?

Can't see Sir Alex being best pleased about a rugby game in thepeak of the Premiership season, can you? And I equally can't see 80,000 people making the trek from York/Lancs to London 8 weeks before Christmas (and the associated costs)

Im sure Sir Alex would prefer August to October, dry nice weather, good pitch gorwing conditions. Or soggy dark Oct (can u remember a dry final?)
And if we expand do we expect 80k to go to wembley for the GF from York/Lancs? (unless we get there of course)

| Quote: Standee "I think the RFL are more concerned about the fact the competition hasn't got a sponsor yet, May is a long time away, we're not talking a CC Semi-Final here, we're talking London v FC, it affects about 8,000 people maximum, hardly an urgent issue.'"
Yes, understand it isn't a CC Semi-final, but its not your average '2 hour max travelling' game up the road either is it? (from Hull anyway). Even I live in Portsmouth but I want to go relax, have a drink, enjoy the match, and stay over for the night wherever the game is eventually held. Its not unreasonable to assume that the longer this decision is taken, the likelyhood that hotels/accomodation near by to the venue will be getting booked, thus raising the price of the remaining available accomodation. Just would have been nice to have booked our accom and train tickets at early rate prices.
Anyway, I e-mailed Gus Mackay, CEO at the London Broncos, and have received the following response,
Dear Paul,
Many thanks for your email and appreciate your concerns. We are in the process of finalising the venue a hope to announce the plan for the final on the road game before the end of the month. This will give fans almost 4 months to plan.
Kind regards
Gus
So, we will have to be patient for a few more weeks yet!!!!

London is a fairly big place, I doubt you'll struggle for accommodation, and the train fares for May won't be out until mid Feb anyway.

London? Big? Is it? I thought it was just a small suburb of Harrow.
So, its deffo in London then? Which rules out many of the rumours/statements on here regards Coventry, Leicester, Northampton, Gillingham..... I will book ahead with confidence immediately.

| If (wink wink) it is in Gillingham, then you won't want to stay there. Staying in Maidstone(!) would probably be your best bet.

| At least you got a response Reggie. They have ignored the two emails I sent them. It was a decent date this year and I was thinking of doing a family trip down to London for the weekend, if its in Gillingham I won't be bothering.

you really think the 200 people that will decide to stay over in any of those cities will make a blind bit of difference to the availability or pricing of hotels?
stop bleating for the sake of it.

2006 was pretty dry from memory? Shame about the result though!
