| Quote: Standee "that's what I mean, what the RFL should do is allow clubs to increase their salary cap by half the (proven) amount invested in their youth setup, up to a maximum figure (say £250k), then they might start investing.'"
It's difficult to compare unless you know how many hours they're putting in. As MM says they lead normal lives for someone of their age and train the same as if they were ordinary amateurs - that's not too strenuous and many of their counterparts will be working part time and bringing in roughly the same. The minimum wage is £3.64/hr at 16 so £50 equates to around 13-14 hours per week and I doubt they're putting in that much training/playing time TBH.

| Didn't AP say that this was something he wanted to look at, the amount of money the youngsters are being paid?

I don't recall him saying so specifically, but I do recall him saying the youth situation was "unacceptable", I hope it seriously improves.

The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

He can go and sign the best players if other clubs are poor payees, it's not as if they count on the cap.

Why not?
Why are some fans, Leeds I think, claiming Wire are paying massive travel allowances? They don't need to as they don't count on the cap.

| I've got a mate just being signed at Rovers who is earning much less than even the figures being mentioned on this thread.

Don't get me wrong I am all for aggressive recruitment however the sad fact is we are such a unattractive option for players given the perception of our first grade side combined with our relative isolated location.
Warrington are the boom club in the country no doubt about it and its clear Moran wants to build a dynasty.

I don't think AP has any less ambition than Moran, and remember the developments at Warrington started mid 2003, so we shouldn't be expecting things too quickly.

| The whole Service Area selection needs a big overhaul,
the trial game itself last year was one big joke of a 20 minute spell on the pitch so if you didn't get the ball in that 20 minutes and other kids did... you can guess the rest,
This lead to yorkshire trials and subsequently scholarships and academy contracts given out at the end of the year.

Agreed....the whole trial and particularly some of the selections were a joke.

when I tried to get on a referee's course it seemed the whole shoting match was about as amateurish as it can be, maybe FC need to start managing the trial games etc. for themselves, we're beyond the "well meaning hobbyists" phase.
