I agree with you on that.'"
of course they do because they'd rather be proved right than have to accept they might have got it wrong and say at the end of every fecking post every fecking week "I hope he proves me wrong" - yeah sure you do.
It's simple to say "Agar is crap" when we lose and "the opposition are poor" when we win - where would the fun be in saying "you know what I'm seeing signs of improvement"?
I even noticed that people were posting on here that Wire were poor yesterday. So how come they're second in the table? They must have either played a lot of other poor teams or saved their worst performance for us. Teams play as well as the opposition let them - simples.
We played up the middle blah blah blah - good, it was our biggest strength with both half-backs off the field and depleted back-line - how else would people suggest we play? No doubt with free-flowing rugby using our benched half-back, Lyne, ffs. I find it incredible that people on here profess to know the game and/or "to have played it to a pretty good standard" and yet demonstrate week-in-week-out a complete a lack of understanding of the fundamentals of the game, and the dynamics of any given match.
The lads did very well yesterday and for those who think that the ref did not have a major influence on the game why were thousands singing "the referee's a Ganson", "cheat cheat" and generally boo-ing him. No doubt, they don't know the rules unlike the privileged few on here who love to drink deep from their half-empty glasses.

| I doubt any one knows what level of fitness Kent and lyne had before the game, the both played on Saturday, there was no one else left to name.
If Agar had have brought lyne on and he had made a few mistakes people would be slagging him off for playing him.
He can't win atm imo.

That's the whole point, why pick someone in the squad and then not play them.
A major factor in why we lost was fatigue because the players weren't rotated in a proper manner.

It really, really wasn't. We were fatigued from the derby, we had a number of players missing (including both halfbacks) and were playing against a full strength Wire outfit. If you seriously think that playing Reece Lynne or Liam Kent would have altered the result in any way (other than perhaps allowing Wire to score more tries), you need your head examining.

| The players gave their all in both games and we had two really tough contests, Agar got everything pretty much spot on for me. I just wish people would stop blaming him for everything and stop jumping on him at every opportunity.

| This is insane. People are defending deliberately playing with a man short in the second of two games in 4 days?! When, in order to play with a man short, it meant moving another four players out of position!? The team played well and it probably wouldn't have affected the result, but it doesn't make the decision any less wrong.

We had no one else. One of Kent or Lynne had to be selected in the 17 because we had no other options. But Agar did absolutely the right thing in not playing either of them.
The time to blood youngsters is not in a badly depleted side playing against a full strength Warrington team tipped to make the Grand Final. It could do much more harm than good - both in terms of the scoreline on the day and the effect on the young player in the longer term.

because lyne was the fittest out of them all?
You do know that not all 17 have to play? In fact last season a coach only played 15 players a few times.

I disagree completely. We needed a winger. We had a winger available. Instead of playing that winger, we moved four other players out of position, weakening the team as a whole and leaving ourselves short. Both generally and specifically in the back row. That's a ridiculous thing to do.
I really don't understand how disrupting the whole team is preferable to a straight swap.

| So let me get this straight...
Agar plays Lynne against Salford and gets slated when the kid struggles with the step up to SL. He then avoids playing him against a MUCH stronger Wire outfit and gets slated for leaving him out of the side/on the bench.
Talk about a no-win situation.

He got slated for picking him ahead of Hall at Salford. He's being criticised now for picking him in the squad (meaning that Lyne could potentially have played at some point, despite apparently being deemed incapable) and not using him when doing so weakened the side elsewhere and left us a player short in the most difficult game of the year to cope, fitness-wise.

At times, Lynne looked out of his depth against Salford. Imagine how much more difficult it would have been for him against Wire. Just because he's a winger in the U20s, doesn't mean he's better suited to playing on the wing against a dangerous Warrington outfit than Hall or Whiting. It would have been ridiculous to throw a young player to the dogs when, by your own admission, it wouldn't have affected the result.

Exactly. I think some people just refuse to give Agar any credit - no matter what he does.

| We did the best we could against a nearly full strength warrington side, its just a pity luck was not on our side or we may have sneaked it,I think Lynn would have been shafted yesterday on the wing and targeted for sure, fridays derby win took too much out of the players and i dont think spelling lynn would have made such a difference in terms of the result, only a bigger deficit.

The way it appears to me is that Lynne was deemed not ready to play against Wire, but was picked on the bench because there simply weren't any other better options to make the squad up to 17. The alternative would have been fielding just 16 players and I'm not sure that's even allowed under the rules.
In other words, we just didn't have 17 players fit and ready to play on the day, so whoever got the final bench spot would have sat the game out.

So why not put Calderwood/Briscoe/Tickle/Lauaki/The old faithful there, just to make Wire think?
I agree with the general point btw and that Agar's hand was forced by the injury to Long, but it's not the first time he's put someone on the bench and not used them, which puts extra pressure on the 16 "suitable" players.
Also begs the question that if Lyne/Tuffour/Kent etc are deemed good enough to earn a full time professional contract, why are they not good enough to step in to the side when needed?
