This has proved to be the wrong decision in hindsight as a) Motu's a very good player but fails in some key FB basics, b) Motu's had some horrendous luck with injuries and has been unable to play for extended periods since Briscoe left and c) Briscoe's made a decent enough go of it at Rovers to warrant international selection.
In hindsight, we should have kept both, used Motu as the utility back and then we wouldn't have needed Byrne and could have used his quota spot elsewhere.'"
Summed up perfectly especially the last bit. There was no need to ever recruit Byrne at the club. Major recruitment error. |

Or not signed Berrigan and continued with Motu at hooker. Glad as I've been to see Berrigan play here, we didn't need a hooker particularly at that point.
Oh, and Briscoe was offered a contract to stay and chose to reject it. |
