| Its been a heck of a long time in the coming but I remember this development being muted by Clarky around 4 years ago so well done to the club. Getting out of the space we rent from the Allams on County Road is a great move in itself. I'm told the actual first team indoor base will be twice as big as that at County Road and the facilities will be as good if not better than any in the league. The partnership with the Universities sports science wing will be invaluable too. It's also good to see all those who criticised the council for helping Rovers to their ground purchase note that the council said at the time that they were helping us and now we see that they are match funding the project. Massive step forward not just for the clubs playing side of things but also for our longevity as a club as we have consolidated permanent training base for years to come.

| Adds prestige to both the club brand and the university (which has plummeted in the league tables since I attended…).
Wonder if KR will carry on training there?

Apologise for being a bit thick but what does this mean financially to FC? Are we still paying rent?

| Fantastic news for the club, well done to all those involved. I know we all want to hear about signings etc.. but this could be the best news the club has had for years.

I would thinks so as we lease the National Avenue facility from the Allams. They bought it from (I think) Ideal Standard for Hull City's training ground, when they moved to Ellermans old facilities at Cottingham we leased it from them. Adam told us that at a fans forum (back in the day we had them) at Walton Club

Sorry Wilf but I meant are we still paying rent for the new facilities or is it free? Think it was mentioned that it was HCC’s way of levelling up the playing field regards handing over Caravan Park to the Dobbins. Does the new facilities have a cost bearing on FC.

Well done to Hull FC on making/securing this investment. I fear we sometimes have the ‘old Belfast mentality’, of if they’re winning we must be losing or vice versa.
The hoped for 110% increase in RL participation over 5 years… is that a typo? Even allowing for areas of potential rapid growth, such as in the girls’ and womens’ games, it seems very ambitious and a strangely specific number - especially with the mention of ‘over 11 grass pitches’ indicating a reluctance to commit to numbers such as 12 or 13. You’d just say 100% or a doubling, given it is just aspiration, no? Should it be 10%?
I’m interested because a 110% increase would be huge for the wider community (including Rovers) and would clearly justify the council’s investment. I just wonder what the basis of the hope is. For example, if/how local community clubs might be involved or benefit.
Edit: the Hull Uni news story has a couple of artist’s impressions.
