According to the HDM reporter we are looking at.
Just a bit of fun, a guessing game. Who are your three.
1) Front row
Wouldnt be going after Greenwood, he has a heart the size of a pea. Doesn't like it when the going get tough. I'd imagine he'd want a large wage too.
Gelling has gone back to NZ. Looking at the court case hanging over him can't imagine he would fit in with the new culture were trying to create.
I'd have casty on a 12 month deal. We could break Brown in a little easier that way.
Navarrette could be another option. Luis Johnson too, he's only 21/22 and has played prop, loose and second row.
OAB looked lively when he made his debut for widnes, played wing and full back and has plenty of pace. Hodgson knows him so can see why he has been mentioned.
As mentioned by other posters, one of the Hudds outside backs would be ideal. Seniors, Macintosh or even Woods.
Hankinson is free to leave Wigan, but he's primarily a centre. BJB has been released from wakey, but at 32/33 might be deemed too old
Hopefully we can get our business done before preseason. But we appear to have made a great start to our recruitment in Reynolds

His brother Joe is a very similar player and is sat in the stands at Saints.

| I'd take a punt on George Lawler at Rovers. Always impressed me and can play anywhere in the forwards. He's served a long apprenticeship in a struggling side and is now ready to step up to play for a big club. Thoughts anyone?

Rovers won't let him go surely?
I wanted us to make a play for him when Rovers went down. Good player, but do we need him now we have Cator?

Was it Joe that started at Wakey and was touted as future international?

Rovers will struggle to keep him if the lad has any ambition.

Cator has played approx the same number of senior games (albeit quite a lot for Leigh) as Lawler but is 3 years younger. I think Lawler is OOC next season. If Rovers continue their run rate of 3 SL wins every 558 days maybe he'll be looking for an out.

Yeah, I think we picked them both up through playing at Wakefield college, Joe arguably looked the better of the two 3/4 years ago and he certainly looked a different level whilst at York, hence Saints signing him. I cant understand why he hasn't got a chance but I guess James Bentley has took his chances really well in that side, but Joe needs to be playing SL week in week out as James will be next season. Both remind me of a young Gaz Ellis when he first moved into the second row at Wakefield.

I like him but don't see a need for him with Cator.
I wouldn't be chasing too many of there players in the positions we need. Mulhern maybe? But even he's gone off the boil

He’s a former West Hull junior Marcus, good player, very versatile, Lawler, Cator, Lane, has the makings of a future back three, with no homesick or travel problems, the beginnings of the new club Hull, get in.

| We have no non fed places left, doesnt matter how many years they have been here or if they have a British passport, its where they played their academy rugby. So any signings will have to be federation players.

Saints don’t believe his long term position is the backrow and are retraining him as a ball handling/ athletic prop (which is where he played most of the game time he got post lockdown, including the Salford game which was his best game for us/ first time he really played that role). He’s in contention for our fourth prop spot next year, albeit with stiff competition from Amor, LMS and Norman who we have just signed from London.
Between Thompson (of the Joel variety), Bentley and Mata’utia, and a whole host of kids coming through for Saints in the backrow (Wingfield and Forster both made their debuts this year, and Royle is really highly rated and got a squad number for the first time, being the only u19 regular to do so) it’s unlikely Batchelor will see any time there next year (at the moment).

| Will Shall count on the cap next year?
I'm sure Wire got dispensation when Brown was injured longterm, pretty sure the same with Gale at Cas.
