| I agree VOR
Couldnt get to the New Years Day fireworks so relied on the City of Cultures 2017 websites internet stream - what an absolute joke that was, poor angles from possibly one camera, no interactive music and a total let down!
Went to Made In Hull on Thursday about 5.30pm and loved the Queen Victoria Square part - when it ended it was almost chaos with people trying to get down Whitefriargate - organisation was poor - stumbled on the yard thing which was just a loud of none discript croud noise
Moved onto the Depp - that was quite good
What was quite apparent is there was very few shops, cafes or places to simply get a can of drink for the kids and only a few chippies open - didnt see one mobile food stall or anything which meant we stopped at Mcds so the kids could have something to eat on their way home - surely a massive missed opportunity for the city to make people come in for the evening rather than a quick hour - ie advertise it as a nights entertainment?

Then blame the shops and cafes for not being open. Hardly the fault of the organising committee.
You do kind of make a valid point. We need the evening economy in Hull to boom. Last week was excellent but I imagine this coming week it'll be very quiet around the city centre. We need more restaurants in the centre.

| Thought the made in Hull show was fantastic and visitor numbers have absolutely smashed organisers expectations. Yes we need more cafe's bars and pubs to open later at night but that wont happen overnight and it'll take more than one week's good takings to covince the owners to try opening later. Nightime trade will sadly drop again until the clocks change. Though I do think there are signs that Hull's nightlife is shifting back to the Old Town/Fruit Market/marina again at the expense of Prinny Ave.
Great move moving the Siemens wind turnbine in to Queen Victoria square today as its received national media coverage and keeps Hull in the spotlight, we need to keep the momentum going and get more out of towners to come and visit.

| Thought the projections in Victoria Square were amazing, and really liked seeing the Hullywood Icons which I've followed on facebook this year. Didn't enjoy the deep as much because I was surrounded by kids screaming through the whole thing but that's what you get I suppose, would have liked to see it again.
Once again the public transport companies in Hull dropped an absolute clanger not putting on any extra services, especially trains to Beverley and the EY coast that apparently stop before 9pm.

| A mate of mine live on Bowl Alley lane and he said the buzz in town has been amazing all week, even today with the turbine blade arriving he said it's been a hive of activity. I'm going to go to as many events as possible as this is such a great occasion for our city to really come to life and hopefully bring a great vibe around the place. Yeah there has been one or two little niggles but let's get behind it.

Surely they should be putting out a city wide apb - build and they will come!

| I thought the event was nothing short of brillant. Both the spectacle and the organisation. I was immensely proud of the city. The work that has been done to improve the image of the city, both culturally and physically, with the improvements to the pavings, brickwork, lighting, planting and generally around the Fruit Market should be commended in my opinion.
I went to see Made in Hull for the second time on Saturday night with my Granddad. He came home beaming, and was very emotional during the Blitz scene.
Apparently, over 300,000 people visited Hull last week, with over 100,000 just on Saturday (according the Guardian). That has to be above even the wildest expectation for the first week. Yes, there was a touch of congestion, I'm not sure what you could do about it with that many people. In my experience (and I went on the busiest nights, opening and last night) it was completely manageable and there were ways around it if you wanted to find them.
Frankly I've not seen anything that has affected me so much since the 2012 opening ceremony. Well done to the organisers and the volunteers on an unquestionable success.

| Was there any need for the language near the bottom of the article in the Guardian?

| This is Hull - absolutely brilliant show. A couple of issues need to be adressed though.
1. We have a superb Park & Ride at Hessle which was closed in the evenings - we took an hour to get through the A63 to Princess Qua by which time we didn't have time to get round all the venues. We should be making the most of our assets.
2. No food/beverage stalls available particularly down Whitefriargate
But well done to all involved

They didnt want stalls clogging up the areas where thousands were walking. The litter problem would have been even worse. There are plenty of Chippy's, bars, cafe's - if they chose not to open then they have missed out on a lot of money as the ones that did open were rammed and takings will have been very high

Can't speak for the rest of the week, but the park and ride was definitely open on New Years Day for the fireworks.

I can't understand how it took you an hour to get from the P&R to PQ. We drove (had to, my granddad can't walk very far), and while we did queue over the flyover, it took us around 25 minutes from Brough to Trinity Square. That was at 6pm on Saturday.
I do agree though that if it wasn't (and it certainly was for the fireworks as I used it), it should really have been running through the week.
