From my era of 40 years i have to say Gary Kemble

Good stuff. anyone care to dig a name up from the distant past, say pre ww2 from the archives (obviously for the players of the early years you would need to go off historical records and stats, and maybe grandparents recollections etc.)

Got to be Arthur Keegan for me although Gary Kemble runs him a close second.

A couple here:

Edward 'Ned' Rogers - played in the cup winning team of 1914 alongside Batten& Harrison. Our record appearance holder according to the book I've got with 501. Played from 1906-1925.

Joe Oliver - played from 1928-1937 and 1943-45, our record points scorer (1,842) and goal kicker (687). Captain for a few seasons.



i think if we're being serious about picking a 13, we have to look beyond just our own era's. Looklike things like trophy success, longevity, try stats, internationals - as well anecdotal evidence (if possible).

Started going in 75 and saw Robinson and Woods and have seen some bloody good full-backs after that but Kemble is the best I have seen...only one to come close was McKinnon but he wasn't here long enough but by god,he was sheer quality.

steven holmes(I think that was his name) played in the 90's. I remember one tackle he did, player was one on one with him, tackled him, ball carrier off loaded the ball and as holmes got up he tackled the support player as he tried going round him(holmes still sat on his ass)

Prescott and kemble are obvious ones.

others to consider are, shaun Briscoe, motu tony (on the road to the grand final, not from there on lol)

Who added Ben Sammutt? Christ, I used to close my eyes when that bomb went up.

Can't be anyone other thank Joe Oliver surely? Club record points holder, over 400 games played and we're still singing about him over 80 years later. No contest.

Stupid threads these as no one living has seen every player who has played so any votes will either be purely based on your own era watching or a complete guess (Like the one I made with Oliver)

Joe Oliver played mainly at centre, I believe.

Also played full back so maybe he should be in the team twice?
