you can replace injured players in the squad though right up to kick off time with the RFL's permission so Agar is not risking anything in naming them if they don't make it.

I've been told by a few people that Long is out for a few weeks which seems odd if Agar is giving them every chance of playing this week. If they are touch and go this week then surely they will be definately be fit for next week? So if Long doesn't play next week are we to assume it was all mind games this week and he was never going to play? A lot of ifs there I know

Only if they have been injured after the squad announcement IIRC? I think they need a doctors note or something similar?

Pretty sure Long & Horne will be missing out, he mentioned Burnett had a good chance of getting some game time this week (not sure where he mentioned it but i do recall it) If thats the case Washy & Turner in place of Long & Horne.

they only need signing off as injured by the club doctor to be replaced, the timing of the squad announcement makes no difference, you couldn't enforce a rule like that as a player may recover before the squad is announced and then aggravate a niggle in training afterwards seeing as you announce the squad 2 days in advance.

so can someone tell me the point of naming someone in a squad who actually has no chance of playing and in fact has no chance of playing for the next few weeks?? am i missing something??

A little OTT. Who has said he is definitely out for a few weeks apart from a couple of posters on here?

There are no other half backs in the full squad so we might as well name him if as the website says he is a "doubt".

I think thats a bit harsh. Coaches play mind games with opposition coaches all the time with regards injured players.
