| Is it only me that thinks that, if we did sign a fullback, Tansey would make a decent interchange hooker, spelling with Houghton, (as well as being able to cover the halves when needs be). Would allow Berro to stay at right centre, too.
It's what I'd do, if we signed a quality fullback. Would still get a young half cover, though.

| tansey actually looked at his best when playing at hooker for leeds when he first was brought through looked very nippy and fast round the ruck with a good suport play. certainly can play there but not sure on his defence, at fullback hes been very poor in this aspect but maybe been in the middle with other players around him he may just be better. personally id leave tansey at fullback for next season and i would prefer to have berro and houghton at hooker and bring in a top quality centre. forgot about hall it certainly leaves us with at leaste bowt 250k left in cap so i do expect to see a few signings for next season

I hear there is a decent one OOC at Catalans. Green-something is his name.

Or as an interchange hooker while Berrigan rips it up in the centres!

If it's good enough for Agar to pick his team on the back of a fag packet it's good enough for Hutchie to guess the cap on a beer mat!!

of course these are just my guess on what the players are getting and with a little bit of money left from raynor and king aswell still think theres a bit of cap left for a quality centre and a young halfback these two are top priority and we could do with a another prop but we do have players to cover there so a quality centre and a young backup halfback are what we should be getting for next season.'"
I wouldn't include Tuffour in your figures as he's not in our 25 top earners so his salary wont count on the cap unless he plays a game for the first team, which he hasn't.

Hopefully not on long deals. I'm hoping Jack Briscoe will get some first team exposure next season with him becoming a fixture for the 2012 season.

[quote="The Reason":3e09qe5x]Hi Andy
The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

| Is this a thread on rumours...? or a discussion on who will or wont fit our team and where they will play?
I thought rumours where either statements of something they know or something someones heard from someones friend uncles auntis niece who works with their mate? Lol!
Identifying whats rumour and what just discussion is becoming dificult!

| My estimation of what we have left would be circa £120,000 -£140,000 without Dowes signing.

| Quote: ChrisH "Why?
apparently players sign because a coach persuades them that his vision for the future of the club is best? That's what all the players say once they've signed for a club. "I talked to Rich ( Justin/Nobby/Steve whoever ) and he convinced me I should sign". It's not about the money is it? If it was then Longy , Fitz et al would all have gone elsewhere apparently.
Players are professionals and quite rightly they will make a decision that is best for them financially first and foremost with ambition , silverware somewhere in the mix. Once they've signed they'll say it's because of the club/chairman/coach etc. hell they'd be idiots to do anything else.
Whether your recruitment process is good or bad , and it isn't just the individual player but the balance and mix of the group , is seen in the results and the pursuit of success. There's some luck involved and we've not had much but I think that you make your own and the successful clubs tend to be luckier all the time - Lucky Leeds is an example. Our recruitment hasn't worked out. The length of contracts given , the lack of balance between backs and forwards , the lack of planning 2 or 3 years ahead, the lack of thinking players and players playing out of position/with injuries etc have been wrong for some time. The people involved with this poor recruitment are by and large the ones doing it now and I've not heard any of them really say we got it wrong in the past but we're doing it different now. In fact generally they say we're going OK and infer that they'll carry on doing the same thing. I suppose I'll just have to wait and see whether anything changes and we start to see some success on the back of a sound recruitment strategy. Personally I've still not seen much evidence yet of that being likely.'"
Fielden stayed out with the minor premiers, no shock there and LMS choose one of the best teams in SL so again no shock there.
We have recruited poorly in past seasons but got it right last season and as a resutl we improved. I don't think chopping and changin coaches helps either which is why the board have maybe given Agar the two year deal and are backing him in the market. I can see muhc more structure to our player dealings now and we are aiming high rather than just signing a body.

| Quote: cod'ead "I think the main reason for that is Saints play as a club right throughout the age/team structure.
Their youngsters are coached along the same lines as the 1st team squad, so if they need to step up, they know the plays and it's then just a question of adapting to the speed of the game etc.
I reckon they put more emphasis on player development than winning youth team silverware'"
Very true Dave. I mentioned this on the Agar thread. I would like a style of play to be adopted by the club and it be inoutted to all levels that way the system never changes just the personel and if a young player gets thrown in regardless of what position they play they are comfortable.
