Completely agree. Looking forward to the final NRL play offs way more than SL ones. Brutal intensity of these games makes them great spectacles.

| Quote: Airlie-bird "Do you think it may cause problems now wth Miller Holdswortg and McDonnell as they all seem very pally with Gentle?'"
I'd happily lose McDonnell because we have now found Shaul and no team can afford the luxury of a reserve full-back. Not when Horne & Whiting can fill in and do a good job there if needed.
Holdsworth has been iffy, so if he wants to go it would free up a big chunk of the cap to re-invest.
Miller would be the only big loss, as he is yet to show what he can do after a full pre-season. But I don't think he or is agent would be keen on a move so soon. He hasn't yet impressed in either SL or NRL, so would struggle at this point to get another big club in either league IMO.

| Quote: Anakin Skywalker "True and it isn't just in RL either.
Anyone remember Boycot smacking the streaker twice on the backside with his bat? A 6 month ban and an assault charge right there in the modern game of that I have no doubt (My thoughts would be it's his own damn fault for running naked around an area he had no right to be in). He showed a bit of character and that's not wanted in modern sport as he may become unavailable for his team (In a box with a label).
Where would Gazza have fitted in modern Football? Would he be classed as too out of control for top level football.
Would Nobby Styles have been grabbed hold of and told to stop playing his game the way he did (Kicking everyone into the stands) because he was always being banned?
Getting back to RL I'm going to use Willie Mason as another example (I know, But still).
In that year we were under Morgan playing a very structured system (Too structured IMHO) now in his first game Willie was having the time of his life and was offloading for fun and it was great to watch. Next game in not one offload.
It was obvious to me that JM had got hold of Willie and asked him to knock the offloads on the head as he needed him to fit in a box with a label.
As for my point about worrying more about them then us here are 2 examples.
Alex Ferguson regularly won premier league titles at canter at MU but then in Europe changed they way the played in the latter stages because he was worried about the opposition to the detriment of themselves mostly .
The year Jenson Button won the world title in F1 he did it on the back of a brilliant idea from Ross Brawn and his team. It was passed by the FIA but the other teams didnt like it, Now instead of thinking 'Right lets take a look and see if we can think up a great idea of our own' they spent around 1/3 of that season moaning to the FIA about it. By the time they decided to do their own thing it was too late and Brawn and Button were crowned team and world champions.'"
Sorry you'd like to see more Gazza's? Forget football and look how NOT been put in a box has affected his life and why would anyone want to see a player who cant play but just kicks people?

Yes, in the same way that Briscoe and O'Meley (in the first season, at least) struggled with the loss of Agar. Holdsworth, in particular, was a big goldenboy of Gentle's, and should look hardest at himself for letting Gentle down, imo. He can go for me. Miller is a rookie thrust into the boiling kitchen too soon - if he is philosophical he should kick on under a new coach's nurture. I like McDonnell and hope he's big enough to move on, like O'Meley eventually did, and doesn't display the sort of form he did latterly at Rovers - benefit of doubt for him.

Luxury? We need a well balanced squad.

We need to work on telling Shaul where to stand in the defensive line when defending our line. That'll be a closed season job for Radders or whoever.

He is reportedly amongst one of the top earners at the club, he either continues to play full-back and blocks the progress of Shaul or we try and move him on. He can't play any other position, and we could use the money to address other weaknesses.

He's not the finished article I agree, but i've seen enough to suggest he'll get there, and he'll be earning a fraction of what McDonnell earns.

He didnt need to mention the cap at all. He's now claiming to know each wage of each coach in Aus!
Yet he'll be spewing if anyone posts the salary of a Hull FC employee

The two I mentioned were individuals not just a carbon copy of the last guy. You know they actually had character and did their own thing which worked for them.
Gazza as an example was a gifted if flawed sportsman. We wouldn't want gifted sportsmen playing pro sport if they don't fit in boxes now would we as that wouldn't do at all.
Nobby Styles was a great defender and a world cup winner no less but his game included getting stuck in which lead to the stand kicking I mentioned on occasion. We wouldn't want great defenders that don't fit in boxes now do we as that wouldn't do at all.
