I actually feel sorry for the guy, could have done so much more, I'd hate to imagine spending 40 years with the regrets Paul will have, assuming he clears his debts in time to enjoy any retirement.'"
The financial aspect is probably the saddest part of the Paul King story because i reckon he will have made enough money in his career to be sat pretty comfortably off at the minute but the probability is he will be labouring on a building site within 6 months of retiring.
Compare that to Lee Radford who comes from a very similar background, will have earned very similar money over his career i would have thought but has been sensible with it.

Yup, but the phrase "fools and money" kicks in again.

Youre not wrong.

| He could have been a real Hull FC legend and a GB regular if he'd applied himself and kicked on from 2001. His occasional spells of form were not enough and the club is right to allow him to leave.

| Quote: Ian P "Kingy seems like yesterday when I was with you Dad at the Boulevard watching your first turn out, a lot of water has flown past Sammys point since then. He could maybe have achieved more, he acheived helping us into SL, he helped to keep us there when things got rough in 99. He managed a Challenge cup winners medal, runners up medal and SL play off runners up medal. Not as much as some but more then a lot more, remember upto this year Lee Bries had got zilch. His fear of flying and confined spaces has been well documented, suffice to say the detractors had a field day with that.
Maybe the off field stories are true, most are wildy exagerated of that I have no doubt. He has always given effort on the pitch and he has a rapport with the fans, he is one of them and one that has not forgotten where he came from. He will be no doubt sat with us in future years, like so many others from the past held in esteem for deeds acheived, not mis deeds. Too many of our fans did not see Kingy back in his youth ripping defences apart and giving us hope for the future.
Kingy will join the elite group of greats simply because he was Kingy, a fans favourite. A human being who wore his heart on his sleeve and never wanted to leave his only PRO club, perhaps this is not quite the end of the Paul King show quite yet
Cheers'"
Top post Ian!
Kingy's a throw back to the players of old! He'd have fitted in well with the team of the early 80's!!

no, you're just a parasite who feeds off peoples misery to make money. As for Paul King, Thanks Paul for all your efforts in playing for Hull FC over these last 10 years.

That's a great post that disregarding the off field speculation he came across as a real club man who was loyal and would not take a backward step. Not many players even get to Wembley and win a challenge cup , as well as a grand final runners up. Bearing in mind the wealth of talent we have at GB Prop I'm not too sure what all you doubters are talking about.
Good luck in the future.

| End of an era with the departure of Kingy
In the Peter Walsh era he was one of the few bright lights to shine.
Sadly never quite reached the heights, ie international level, he should have done, but has given the club invaluably loyal service.
Good luck with wherever the game takes you
ALL THE BEST PAUL KING AND THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Standing up to the forum bully.
It must be working, he doesn't like me...i'm devastated: |
|
| If he chooses not to go to another club and remains on your books its not inconcievable if you have a run of injuries to props he may have not played his last game in a humbug shirt.
