| I’m surprised anyone is surprised with Jake getting a ban. As soon as I saw the replay I knew he’d get banned. It was a moving arm that connected with the head. Add to that Jake’s previous ban from the St’s friendly as someone mentioned earlier, plus his constant chirping in a match and he’s given the Disciplinary Committee an easy game to make.
Jake’s sin binning, plus the penalty he gave away late on cost us the game last week. Now his suspension has severely weakened our chances in the cup game.
Wigan have played us like a kipper. Hardaker wound Jake up in the build up to the game and Jake couldn’t help himself. Wigan play on the edge all the time. They push the offside rule to the limit and if the Ref is weak (like last Thursday) get away with it.
I agree with the earlier comments that the Referee’s should be more accountable for their actions, but it’s never going to happen. Can you ever imagine the RFL giving James Child’s a one match ban for missing a blatant offside by Wigan in their own line in the last minute?
Hull need to smarten their act up. Someone said recently, if a reasonable person enters a room to negotiate with a group of unreasonable people, there’s only going to be one outcome. It’s sad, I’m all for fair play, but if other club’s are going to wind Jake up, we need to wind them up. If others stand offside and the referee ignores it, we’ll we should push up too at the play the ball.
It’s a shame, but teams like Wigan have played the referee and RFL for years. For instance, I think Sean O’Loughlin was in front of the Disciplinary about 30 times and got suspended once. I’m sure sometimes he was not guilty, but surely there’s no smoke without fire, but with no previous it’s easier to get the benefit of the doubt when they are deciding to ban you or not.
We are where we are now for Saturday now. No reason why we can’t put in a great performance, we more than matched Wigan last week, especially after the first twenty minutes. We need to cut out the stupid indiscipline, read the game more and get savvy. No one’s going to do us any favors, so we need to sharpen our game management if we want to win the big games.

Don't be ridiculous.
This paranoia that everyone hates us is embarrassing.

| Not everyone hates us, well maybe
Jon Wells
Jon Wilkin
The RFL
Aseem Allam
Keef the red
The whole of the West Riding
Josh Jones
Our neighbors
The Wigan centric Sky presenters
And the whole family of referees from Huddersfield Wakey Wigan
The RFL disciplinary panel.
That’s why when we do win, it rams it right up em, and it’s ever so sweet.

Yes, a perfect opportunity for Connor.
He’s had some promising games before for us, just had that nightmare against Wigan in the Cup last year. Dropped his first catch and then got peppered all game.
He’ll get targeted from the start by Wigan, but we have a week to work on that in training. No reason why he can’t come in and do a job for us. He’s capable of getting us a try, he ran a beauty in against Rovers a couple of seasons back.
He may not have Jake’s X factor in attack and putting players in, but if he comes in and does a job for us, then we have a few others on the park who can still get us a result.

| Totally agree ref Connor Wynne, a massive opportunity to shine in front of his new Coach. He will be put under tremendous pressure by the Wigan kicking game, especially with the weather forecast for next Saturday, rain all day!

| I'm surprised no one has suggested BH foresaw Connor's likely suspension, so arranged Wynne a couple of matches out on loan in preparation for the cup game.

| Not surprised in the slightest that Connor has received a ban, though I don't agree and think its harsh, I hope that the RFL for once will be consistent and any future high tackles similar to Connors are treated in the same way with a yellow and 1 game ban as a minimum. Sadly I just don't see this as being the case as they haven't done so yet.
What is more annoying to me is the fact that yet again a club like Wigan seem to get away with something other clubs including our own have had players banned for in which I refer to the late shoulder charge by Havant on Sao I think it was. That offence is no different in any of the others that have seen players banned, yet for some reason Havant gets away with a caution.
A for Fash thats one I just didnt see nor did anyone else by the sounds of it so you have to seriously question the disciplinary panel and process which still is shrouded in doubt.
Its going to be a hard task to beat a Wigan side with the upper hand and us being depleted already with injuries and now losing two more players to bans. So no question but Wynne has to be given the chance at FB.
Still not over as still a slim chance of turning in a performance to win the tie however our discipline is going to have to squeaky clean.

Our discipline has been a problem in the last three matches
I am surprised the coach has not done something about it.

Do grown Men/Women seriously believe the governing body is bias and would cheat to rather a different team went though? Genuinely ?
I’m all for discussing consistency of the disciplinary, question some calls the ref makes (they make errors like players do) etc
But thinking a referee wants a certain team to win or RFL want certain teams to progress is embarrassing imo.
Think you guys will need Mau and particularly JR back but you’re a lot more resilient than the last few years. You’ll be highly motivated after last weeks antics. Think you’re a chance still. Wigan’s attack still isn’t great at all and the young pack can have off days (Leeds semi final last year).

No I don’t think they do, I think it’s frustration of the same seemingly differing decisions game on game that we keep seeing with nothing changing.
As I’ve said in a previous post the issue for me is the disciplinary and the lack of any seeming logic or consistency i the way it operates. The other issue that is damaging the game is the performance of the professional officials which we all know mistakes happen but some of the errors so far this season including VR have been bad. Yet nothing seems to happen and no one seems to be accountable.
All of the above I think adds to the frustration especially when certain teams do seem to get more favourable outcomes when judging on very similar offences etc.
I still think we have a chance thought it’s only a slight one.

| When the decisions seem to consistently favour the same teams under certain officials then yes you kind of do develop a question of if a bias is involved.
This isn't just a knee jerk reaction to one game or even one incident, this is season after season of the same inconsistent decisions from officials and the disciplinary panel.
The officiating needs a big overhaul and the current incompetent crowd phasing out.
