Minichiello is staying at the Roosters last I heard, playing on the wing from next year though.

Briscoe is an odd one, on the face of it, it would be easy to assume it's Salford, but too many people are saying Leeds.

Is Tomkins definitely going at the end of this year?

If so, Eden could well be an option. Would they possibly look at Tansey? Been playing well for Cas by the look of it and they seem to have signed Dorn.

If Tomkins stays on another year they could well look in our direction, too.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them test Widnes' resolve to keep Hanbury, either.

To be fair to the Wigan club, I'd expect they'd look in house first and see if Hampshire is up to the job on a permanent basis first.

Yeah, I reckon they will look in-house for long term. That's partly why I asked if Tomkins is definitely going this year, as I think if he is they may well bring someone like Tansey in on a 1-year deal, whereas if he has another year it might be more likely that they just fully commit to Hampshire or whoever.

It will be Ryan Hampshire. That's why we're giving him so many games at the moment. It possibly could have been Minichiello but that move looks to have fallen through, which is a shame.

TBF, whilst I don't particularly like him, Tansey has a lot of ability.

Young Hampshire looks a gem but my fear with him is that he's an out and out halfback not a fullback.

Hence why I said 1-year deal. I wouldn't for one minute think you'd have him as a long-term replacement, but he could do a job until one of your kids is ready.



Not seen a great deal of him, TBH. Big pressure to chuck him next year as first choice if Tomkins does leave, though, whether he's better as a fullback, halfback, or whatever. I've a lot of respect for your youth policy, but with all the departures confirmed and rumoured, you're starting to look a bit light in experience IMO.

A stop gap would be a must for me but he'd need to be more Minichiello then Tansey.

Fully agree about our lack of experience and it will tell. We have a chairman who's happy to let the players leave at the first sign of interest (and a transfer fee being waved at him) because he has massive faith in that youth set up. That will only work so long though because eventually you'll be left with too many juniors and nobody to lead the way.

I'm no Leeds fan but I can't help but admire how they keep that group of players together!

Problem is that those are getting very hard to come by, as evidenced by it seemingly falling through for him to stay at home. I wasn't too sure of McDonnell, but we probably signed the best fullback on the SL market last year. This year doesn't look any better TBH.



I agree, it's been a huge part of their success. I'll be interested to see if they can do it again though, or whether they got a bit lucky with the nature of Sinfield and the others, and in particular with Sinfield and his influence on the other players to stay on board.
