That may well be but the facts are the sport is still quite parochial and a number of Lancashire based players (professional or not) seem to have difficulty committing to come this far East whether we like it or not.

| No idea what he has done but when you consider how desperate Salford are currently it must be something pretty significant.

Probably trying to engineer a move, maybe refusing to train.
I'd bet he already has a club lined up.

| Posted on the Wigan Board about Burgess’s indiscretion
Went to Ben Austin's wedding with Gildart/Williams etc when he should have been training and then said the weather was too bad to drive back.

Salford may be more than pleased to get him off the payroll. Sio gone as well.
Makes you wonder.

Absolutely nothing to do with us needing a SR.... but did Kallum Watkins attend the wedding and miss training?

Possibly, though reading the article by Matt Shaw in HDM today it seems they may already be at cap limit with them looking at the dispensation route with RU. Burgess wouldn't qualify under the marquee rule either.
Seems an odd move by Salford though considering they've just lost Sio and now have effectively sacked their other starting winger.

| Seems a bit harsh, more like Salford trying to cut costs I reckon.

| Think there is a few people been extremely harsh to McIntosh. He’s the popular scapegoat at the minute.
Ended the season in pretty decent form. Not many wingers would’ve kept the ball in for Trueman try against st helens and he also had the wheels to finish off the with Ritson chasing him down (much easier to run without the ball)
He’s also got a class passing range which is rare for a winger.
A lot of issues with burgess’ game that people are seeming to ignore. He’s had a few indiscretions at salford by all accounts. He’s also an error machine and not far off the big 30.
Worth a risk but not the same signing he would’ve been once upon a time

Burgess is better than mcintosh and any of our wingers 100 %
Burgess has genuine pace great finisher experienced
Why wouldn't you wanna sign someone who's better than what we've got bizarre

Possibly because he was a player who was on final warning for his behaviour and attitude, disruptive in the group and now seen to taking the p@ss over this wedding fiasco. In such a case our coach has to decide whether his ability as a winger outweighs his liability as a person.
Smith has spent a lot of time and invested a lot of money in a new look squad that is based on attitude, passion and integrity as much as skill and playing ability. He would have to weigh up the risks and whether the whole ethos of his new look squad would be unbalanced and disrupted by such an addition. Good players only leave clubs in such situations if they are disruptive, and there is a real problem for them going forward with their colleagues. In any case he isn't the winger he was for me and it all looks a bit too much like Salford have taken the opportunity to act and set an example and make a statement to their other players, (just as we did with Griffin) whilst the Salford Board could see an opportunity to cut back on spending again as well. Lets live it to the coach to decided.

Fans only care about what happens on the pitch
I didn't hear one person say about likes of Jordan Lane and say oh but he's a good boy .....it doesn't happen!
Players like Ben Barba, Albert Kelly, Michael jennings, sam burgess, Gareth hock, Israel folau off top of my head had off field problems but are great players and always walk in most clubs
Likes of burgess, jennings were world class
