Minichello would have been subbed had Manu not aggravated his arm injury but we all know his defence is poor.
Jamie Shaul should also make more effort to bolster that left edge

| Quote: Dave K. "Rovers?
Those 3 games have done us in points difference wise, We have shown strong defence at times, in big games I think we would be ok.
But I agree our left defence needs work, Carlos or Connor there will improve that plus a new backrower.'"
Agreed, Sneyd is not a strong defender but that is hardly unique in a scrum half but he needs strong defenders either side of him.
The problem is he doesn't and other teams know it and are setting up to attack that area.
Carlos and Hadley seems best bet for now. Mini been a great player for us and still plays with great energy but having him and Sneyd stood next to each other is asking for trouble!

MIKE SMITH- THE BEST CENTRE HULL HAS EVER MADE!: |

| Quote: Jake the Peg "True but i also didn't expect us to defend like an east hull team'" its not our fault , you have a east hull coach ,in the past you have had a lot of east hull lads playing for you , maybe the reason its gone down the pan

| Quote: Jake the Peg "Doubt all you want mate. I was there. Got pizzing wet through walking to the ground, watched some good stuff from us in attack but bl00dy awful defence on our left edge. Fairamo isn't the only one. Mini drops off far too many tackles, griffins 1 on 1 defence isnt great and sneyd is a little half back who gets spotted so we probably have the 4 worst defenders stood together defending that side which is why we shipped 6 tries down there last night. Admittedly 2 were whilst we were.
Why do you think they didn't score down our right hand side despite having hastings on that edge?
Like too many fans, you don't really seem to see what's actually going on on the pitch.
We need some axcou tant to do us a pie chart of where we concede tries but I doubt shell don't as she didn't do the last one I asked for
Fact is we have conceded the most points in sl. Do you think that is acceptable? Admittedly we have played one more game than some team but it's hardly the point. Defensively were one of the worst in the comp and it needs sorting. Some of it is attitude and some of it structure but it's the coach's job to sort it'"
You slagged of Bureta last night, singling him out, whilst his positional sense is poor, he often is isolated, due to Griffin similar weakness in defence, admittedly Bureta can’t decide to stick or twist at times, and everyone can see it, but you have already rubbished our incoming winger “Swift” before he has arrived, it’s so negative.
As for Jackson Hastings, he has the ability to attack both edges, as he did last night with cross field kicks, and Louis running threat, we would have needed four Buretas to stop Pauli.
Salford are a decent team, they nearly pinched it, but we prevailed, and a try which will live long in my memory from Ratu was worth the rain soaked journey.
And pizzin wet through again this morning queuing for our Semi Final tickets.
Hope you’ve dried out.

Exactly. To be in the top 5 and Cup semi final given our injuries early on is terrific. There'll always be something to complain about - we only ever score from Sneyd kicking to Talanoa, right? What a way to exist

Lol.
I was speaking to James Clarke in the ticket office, I asked what was the situation with Ratu, he said “ he had an option for a further year, but since he’s turned to league, it’s a difficult negotiation with the British Army, and now the RFU are apparently showing interest”

I seem to remember I said we would "make the playoffs with a bit to spare." Saints and Warrington aside we have the best squad in the league. Anyone who thought we would be bottom half of the table when they made their pre season predictions simply doesn't know what they are talking about.
As a whole we have performed around about my expectations. My only real complaint is that when we are having an off day we just stop trying and start sulking, and that isn't acceptable for a professional team. I aren't worried about the defence. We clearly can defend when we want to, the stats just appear lop sided because of the few occasions that we have just given up. Any problems we have are all based around attitude, not ability.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I bet we are wishing we offered him a long and lucrative deal right from the start. Hull plucked him from relative obscurity and gave him a chance, I hope he is grateful enough for that to give us at least another year. If we can get the army on side that is.

“The Old Boy” network still runs this country, so if RFU coming sniffing he’ll be off.
