Pearson indicates you're up near the cap and that the moves for Chase and then Prince were predicated on freeing up space (presumably moving Seymour on). Of course, poorly spent isn't dramatically better than unspent, but I don't think you're being sold short from that POV.

We tried to spend at full cap, but the deals didn't come off. No point spending full cap for the sake of it, we want the right players.

A fair few deals have fallen through with buying & retaining for whatever reasons, I hope Pearson explores those reason thoroughly and lessons are learnt for the future. I am still optimistic about a top 4 tbh, I actually think Seymour has no option but to go out and prove a few people wrong, let us hope he succeeds.

Even as is I also think that we should have a fair crack at top 4. At least, I don't see 4 significantly better squads than ours. IMO, at this moment in time I'd say there are 6 clubs with stronger-looking squads than the rest of SL, and we are one of them. If we maintain the right attitude, improve our consistency, and the right players gel for us, I don't see why we couldn't be one of the better 4 teams out of those 6 (particularly when 2 of them have new coaches coming in. Catalan especially could be a lottery as to how Frayssinous gets them performing).

Lets be honest some of those other 6 mentioned havent exactly strengthened have they, look at Wigan, they replaced a world class double act with who??? you know what i mean... the wigan faithful are not exactly screaming their intention...

we have a great squad and for once quality depth, we will do very well this year and few will look forward to playing us for sure

Whilst he never ripped it up in his first year, McGuire never basically told the media that he was useless and would be replaced given half the chance.
